Your luxury lodge
Tucked into 250 acres of natural woodland, the setting for this exclusive collection of 30 lodges is nature-infused, with the landmark tors of Dartmoor forming a dramatic backdrop. Beautifully designed to offer bright and airy living along with plenty of space for indoor and outdoor entertaining, these contemporary homes are the perfect base from which to explore the many attractions in the area, so for families looking to immerse themselves in outdoor adventure it doesn’t get better!
Open plan layouts and sumptuous furnishings create elegant places for unwinding in with the living areas opening out on to large decks with tables and seating for fresh air dining. Private hot tubs grace every home, so relaxation is all part of the experience, and if you’re holidaying with dogs or young children the surrounding nature trails and open countryside are perfect places for them to explore (there’s even a communal outdoor dog wash for hosing down muddy paws not children!).
Sleeping between four and eight guests (with most being pet-friendly), all properties have been kitted out to perfection, so guests can expect the very highest standard of fittings and features throughout. Sweeping views of the stunning surrounding landscape are showcased from every room, so an atmosphere of away-from-it all tranquility infuses the atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy complete escapism whatever time of year.

Where to find adventure
Roadford Lake
The lake lies quite literally on the doorstep of your lodge and teems with wildlife so if you’re keen get up close to its native flora and fauna, the surrounding ponds and meadows offer plenty of opportunity for it. The lake also has viewing area with benches where you’ll be able to spot rare and local breeds of bird, or if you fancy a peaceful place to simply sit and ponder, this is a wonderful way to do just that. Roadford Activity Centre lies around 5 minutes’ drive away and offers many many wonderful lake-based sports and leisure activities for all ages and abilities.

Where to take the family
Dingles Fairground Museum (5-minute drive)
Home to the National Fairground Collection this attraction makes for a terrific day out for guests of all ages. One of its kind in the UK, the museum has been designed to capture the magic of a bygone age through exhibits, vintage engineering and stunning artwork displays. Enjoy the super dodgems, the Victory Gallopers, Moonrocket, Ghost Train and the Chariot Racer Ark along with smaller rides for little people. There are also classic stalls such as Hook a Duck, Plate Smasher, Shooting Saloon and Crazy Mirrors. Tickets can only be purchased for pre-booked sessions from the website for morning or afternoon sessions.
Dartmoor National Park (around 25 minutes’ drive to the edge of the park)
One of Devon’s most alluring assets, Dartmoor is a vast and stunningly beautiful expanse of moorland characterised by various granite tors, heather-covered hills and resident wild ponies. For nature-lovers and outdoor enthusiasts it’s a dream come true, and equally as wonderful for getting the whole family out into the fresh air. You can picnic on riverbanks, visit prehistoric remnants, hike its tors or cycle – and there are many lovely local pubs for stopping in at for lunch or a drink.
Morwellham Quay (a 27 minute drive)
A great way to entertain children on rainy days, this World Heritage Site is located on the beautiful River Tamar and has been the film location for the very popular BBC Two TV documentaries ‘Victorian Farm’ and ‘Edwardian Farm’ at Morwellham. Take a step back in time and taste life as it was for rural workers, miners and holidaymakers of the day. Visit the historic boat ‘Garlandstone’, then wander through the Victorian village and take a train ride through the George and Charlotte copper mine. There are soft play areas to keep little ones busy, and The Ship Inn where you can stop in for lunch.
Trethorne Leisure Park (12 minutes’ drive)
Fun and adventure for all the family no matter the weather! Set in the heart of Cornwall Trethorne Leisure Park is perfect for entertaining children (and grown-ups) with trampolines, a zip wire, crazy golf, animal encounters, a climbing wall and paddle boats. Indoors you can bowl, slide, helter-skelter, trampoline, play Zorb football, bungee run and scale a rotating climbing wall – whew! Of course there’s an onsite restaurant and café for refuelling you and the kids between activities.
Where to grab a bite
Dartmoor Inn (around 20 minutes’ drive)
Like Devon and cream teas, walks on Dartmoor and a hearty pub lunch go hand in hand. This popular 16th century inn is easily reached from some of Dartmoor National Park’s best-loved trails and is a fantastic option for break-fast, lunch or dinner. In winter you’ll have a huge roaring fire to look forward to, along with
seasonal classics like Creedy Carver duck with creamy mash, forest-green kale and red wine jus, and in the summer, there’s fresh seafood and stacked gour-met burgers with triple cooked chips to look forward to – enjoyed outside with a tall G&T or a glass of fizz.
Cowslip Café (20 minutes’ drive)
This lovely foodie stop can be found down a farm lane in an idyllic countryside setting on a small traditional organic farm in Launceston, Cornwall. Ideal for cream teas and lunches in the sunshine, the café uses local and (mostly) organic produce for its delicious menu like Breaded Butterfly Prawns and Roast Garlic Dip, Rich Venison and Blackberry Bourguignon, Seafood Linguini and Sticky Soy and Ginger Pork Fillet. The menu constantly changes based on the season so you can expect the freshest of local ingredients.
Roadford Café (a stone’s throw from your lodge)
Perched on the lake’s edge the café at Roadford Lake offers the perfect vantage point for taking in the panoramic waterside views while enjoying a delicious light bite with friends and family. All of the café’s produce is fresh and locally sourced so expect your coffee to come from nearby Okehampton rather than Africa and your ice-cream from Devon-based Farmer Tom’s. The menu includes such delights as home made quiches, pasties and sandwiches, and those with a sweet tooth can indulge in a slice of freshly baked cake. The cafe is open 7 days a week, 9.00am – 5.00pm, with indoor and outdoor seating available so you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere no matter what the season or weather.
Strawberry Fields Farm Shop (Less than 10 minutes’ drive)
This award-winning farm shop has recently been voted the best in Devon by Muddy Stilettos. Purveyors of fresh farm produce, it has an on-site bakery, butcher, dairy and green grocer’s so if you’re planning on whipping up a magnificent feast to enjoy in the comfort of your lodge, this is where you’ll need to shop. Its on-site restaurant serves up an incredible Sunday roast too but we suggest you book in advance as it’s a humdinger, and very popular with the locals.
Things to know
Parking
Each lodge has its own parking spaces and there are a limited number of additional visitor parking spaces outside reception, on a first come first serve basis.
EV Charger Point
The site has two EV charging points for guest use, situated along from reception in two designated parking spaces. The EV charging point is by VendElectric, and charging will have associated costs as normal via their app. We kindly ask that once your vehicle is charged, that you park in your lodge car parking space to ensure the EV spaces are free for other guests on the site.
Shared Facilities
There is a small yet well-equipped on-site gym available for guests to use free of charge during their stay. For guests with their four-legged family members in tow, there is a dog wash positioned just off the path leading into the woods and the nature trails surrounding Roadford Lake.
