If coastal paths, woodland walks and beautiful sandy beaches are on your checklist for the ideal Cornish break, you’ll love a stay at Vale House Barn. Just five minutes drive from the lovely beach at Portreath and just off the A30, the property is wonderfully positioned as a base from which to explore North Cornwall’s coastline and attractions so for groups of friends or families looking to enjoy the best of the area in a wonderfully comfortable home, this is just the place.

For those who love the outdoors there are many fantastic walks in the area (the best of which we’ve listed below), and a bike track just down the road means that cycling enthusiasts can enjoy a scenic ride through the countryside whenever the mood takes their fancy. And if you don’t have your own bike or would rather pack light for your holiday, the nearby Elm Farm runs a bike hire service, so you’ll still be able to enjoy getting out and about with the family. Adding to the area’s repertoire of fresh air entertainment, the Famous Nine Golf is just the place to brush up on your skills and with its uniquely designed course being modelled on some of the world’s most famous holes (we love the 8th which is inspired by St Andrew’s 18th hole), you’ll feel like a bit of a pro returning from a whirlwind worldwide circuit, and Gwelan Mor's 2-acre course Clover fishing lake is ideal for the avid angler.

Sleeping six guests, you’ll find an open-plan interior with a living room that is furnished a large L-shaped sofa – perfect for unwinding in after busy days of exploring. A modern entertainment system including a flat screen tv with built-in DVD and a lovely wood burner provide all you’d need to enjoy relaxation no matter the weather, and a private decked with fantastic views of the hills and surrounding area means evenings can be spent outside either dining al fresco with BBQ’s or tapas, or enjoying a glass of wine as the night draws in.

The property has a well-equipped kitchen with an open-plan dining area and makes for the ideal space for the preparing and sharing home cooked meals but for those who enjoy not having to cook, there are several great pubs in the area including The Hub at Portreath which serves delicious fresh dishes as well as a vegan menu.

Vale House Barn welcomes up to four dogs, and with its communal exercise lawn and wonderful countryside setting, it has all the outside space you and your four-legged friends could dream of. For those families with children, the play area which includes swings and a trampoline will provide plenty of fun, and of course means that the grown-ups will be able to relax in the sunshine while enjoying a break of their own. Ample parking means your stay is hassle-free and if you’d like to top on firewood for your log burner, the property guests are able to purchase logs on site.

Good Housekeeping Bond
We ask our guests for a £100 good housekeeping bond, which is pre-authorised against your card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved and then released afterwards if there is no claim. We will contact you nearer the time of your arrival to arrange this.

Vale House Barn is best suited to families or couples looking to enjoy a relaxing break. If your booking falls outside either of these groups, please get in touch before making your booking to discuss your requirements

For guest’s safety, Vale House has outside security cameras. The first camera points towards the main entry gate, the second towards the parking area and the third covers the outside area of Vale House, which is the property next door. Guests will have full privacy when using the property though, as none of the cameras point into the actual property.

Welcome to Redruth

Situated in the heart of a World Heritage Site, Redruth was once little more than a small market town but saw a massive boom in the demand for copper during the 18th and 19th centuries; the evidence of which can be seen in the many opulent commercial buildings and landmarks that line its streets.

A great location to explore the Cornish North Coast, just 1 mile from the A30 and two miles to the harbour town of Portreath. I love this part of Cornwall, Portreath with its golden beach and Harbour and perfect road links to Perranporth or St ives. From Porthreath there are lovely coastal walks to Godrevey lighthouse and Hells Mouth with farreaching views all the way to St Ives. With a liitle arcade and cosy pubs Portreath is a firm favourite with familes.
