Tucked away under a canopy of trees, this superb eco-home, though architectural and contemporary, seems at be completely at one with nature and harmonises glass with timber and light with space to create a uniquely designed luxury retreat in North Somerset’s exclusive Cadbury Camp Lane.

Set within 1.6 acres of private woodland, Belvedere Retreat rests in quiet seclusion at the end of a long driveway with its interior laid out over three floors. On the top level are two of its three bedrooms which are accessed via a flight of stairs from the main living area and adjoined by a balcony that overlooks the downstairs living. Light floods in from above and saturates the space while floor to ceiling glass showcases the external leafy view, so if you’re looking for somewhere to steal away that completely removes you and your family from the pressures of a busy schedule, this is the place. Downstairs on the ground floor, a fabulous and spacious living room lies open plan with the kitchen and dining area, and it’s here that you’ll do most of your relaxing, whether sharing meals at the table next to a roaring fire or spread out on your choice of sofa in front of the TV or window wall.

Beautifully furnished and wonderfully styled, Belvedere Retreat has more than just its good looks to boast about. Kitted out with a host of entertainment features, the lower ground floor features a dart board and table tennis table to get competitive, a fantastic cinema room sits poised for big screen viewing, completed with a bar area to stock up and a sauna to relax in. Outdoors you’ll be able to enjoy long soaks in the large electric hot tub, taking in the twinkling stars through the trees, or savour drinks al fresco on the decking area. Families in need of versatility or extra privacy will be able to utilise the lower ground floor suite, complete with private bedroom and bathroom, perfect for guest parties that include teenagers or grandparents.

Having everything you need within this stunning home means you may not want to leave during your stay, but if you do feel like exploring the area, there are lovely places to visit especially if you’re partial to a bit of fresh air. The National Trust’s Cadbury Camp, which is an Iron Age hill fort on the ridge above the village of Tickenham, offers a glimpse into Somerset’s ancient history as well as amazing views out towards the Bristol Channel and across Somerset, so if you’re looking for the perfect spot to catch the sunset, this is it! Those longing for the sea will be able to enjoy a meander along the pebble stretch at Clevedon, an old Victorian seaside resort just 20 minutes’ drive away, or for something a little more energetic, the popular Lover’s Walk (also in Clevedon) has stunning views of the River Severn Estuary and is a great choice for those guests with dogs in tow.
