Sitting on Cornwall’s Atlantic Coast, Newquay holidays are a dream for beach lovers, adventure seekers, and foodies alike. Here’s how to make the most of your time in this ever-popular seaside town.

Day 1: Water sports and sunsets

Morning

If water sports are your thing, a surfing session in one of the UK’s top spots is a must. With world-class waves, Fistral Beach is the perfect place to dive into the surf scene. If you’re a novice, Fistral Beach Surf School offers lessons and board and equipment hire. If surfing isn’t for you but you still fancy getting your feet wet, try coasteering through companies like Newquay Coasteering.

Afternoon

After a morning in the water, enjoy a local breakfast and recharge. Blend on Crantock Street is a fantastic choice for wholesome and healthy dishes, while Fore Street Café Bar serve up some of the best breakfast buns and toasties in town. Think smashed avocado, smoked salmon, or bacon-stuffed bagels, paired with smooth coffee or fresh juices.

Spend your afternoon exploring Newquay’s favourite wildlife attractions. Start with the Blue Reef Aquarium, located right by the beach where a highlight is its underwater tunnels that get you up close to marine life. Next, head to Newquay Zoo where, besides its exotic animals, there are many lovely paths to meander too.

Evening

As the sun begins to set, head to Fistral Beach Bar. Sitting right on Fistral Beach, this fabulous spot feels like a slice of the Mediterranean. Grab a cocktail or a chilled beer, and ease back into the Newquay pace of life.

Day 2: Seafood and strolls

Morning

Start your second day with a coffee and a pastry takeaway from Pavillion Bakery on Fore Street which should top up your calories before a lovely walk along the coastline. Follow The South West Coast Path towards Watergate Bay, or walk across Fistral Beach and up across the headland in Pentire – both are scenic and thoroughly enjoyable.

Afternoon

For lunch, it’s time to indulge in Newquay’s incredible seafood. The Boathouse on the harbour is a local favourite, offering fresh, seasonal dishes in a laid-back setting but it is seasonal. Alternatively, The Fish House on Fistral Beach is a must-visit for seafood lovers. With dishes like grilled lobster and mussels cooked in white wine, the menu showcases the best of Cornwall’s seafood.

Spend your afternoon catching a few rays on one of Newquay’s many beaches or drive a few minutes along the coast to Crantock for a different pace and scenery.

Evening

Wrap up your 48 hours in Newquay with takeaway fish and chips from Francines then make your way down to Barrowfields or Lusty Glaze Beach for sundowners.
