Why a Luxury Somerset lodge?

Famed for, among other things, cheddar cheese, cider and of course its Glastonbury Festival, there are many reasons to visit this beautiful county, and what better way than in your very own lodge retreat?

Whether you’re an avid walker, keen cyclist, outdoors enthusiast or foodie, Somerset has plenty to keep you busy, and really, no two days of your holiday need be the same. Sample some of the area’s best local produce in places like Cheddar (of course!) or at one of its various farmers markets in places like Wells, The Levels and Bath. Or pop on your hiking boots and discover one of the great landmarks of the Somerset coastline on this scenic coastal walk across Brean Down near Brent Knoll.

Back to nature

From contemporary eco-dwellings for the family to shepherds huts for two, our beautiful lodges settle in some of Somerset’s most scenic spots. Head to Cheddar for a stay in one of our luxury lodges at Strawberryfield Park where you’ll find not only stylishly comfortable spaces, but incredible views up towards the Mendips. The site has its own apple orchard where you’ll be able to picnic under the shade of its trees, and is just a distance from Draycott Sleights, a small nature reserve on the slopes of the Mendip Escarpment which has great views over the Somerset Levels.

Then there are our pods at Cathedral View in Wells. Positioned in a private field just across from The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens in Wells, you’ll be able to stroll over in just a few minutes and enjoy breakfast and a wander through some of the area’s prettiest landscaped gardens. Deerleap Viewpoint is a 15 minute drive away and offers fantastic views across Bridgwater bay, the Quantocks, back up past Glastonbury Tor and along the Mendip hills. The area has many lovely walks for all people of abilities and as well as caves, if you fancy a bit of exploring.

Indulgent hot tubs

Virtually synonymous with a luxury lodge is its hot tub; the perfect accompaniment to a holiday of blissful relaxation. All of our lodges come with their own private tubs whether wood-fired or electric, so you can lie back and enjoy the scenery. Take in sunset views over the hills and down to the sea from the bespoke hot tubs in our shepherd’s huts in Kilve, or turn up the bubbles in your glamping pod’s tub while lunch sizzles away on the BBQ. Wherever you choose to have your break, you’ll be able to look forward to long and lazy soaks any time of the day.

Family-friendly

Luxury lodge breaks can be just as fabulous for children as they are for grown-ups, with a real sense of adventure attached to them. Perhaps it’s because they really do feel mystical, tucked away into quiet corners of the countryside, and perhaps too, it’s the cool and quirky structures of the lodges themselves that spark the imagination.

For the ultimate in family-friendly lodges we can’t think of anywhere better than Little Burrows underground houses in Radstock. Curvy, grass-covered roofs, winding walls and lanterns by the front door lend a completely magical element to each of these wonderful homes. There’s also a mini underground burrow carved into the landscape that children can play in, as well as black nose valais sheep, angora goats and baby alpacas to see.

Kitted out

From high spec modern kitchens, and bathrooms with free-standing baths, to wraparound decks and BBQ’s you’ll find some pretty spectacular features in our lodges. All have flat screen TV’s and open plan living so you’ll be able to relax and unwind to your heart’s content whether lazing with a good book on the sofa or snuggling up for a movie night in.
