  • Are dogs allowed on Paignton Beach?

Paignton’s main beach at the Pier allows dogs except for during the peak holiday months between May and October. This is also true of Preston Sands which extends from Paignton’s main beach. For a dog-friendly option all year-round, Goodrington North Sands (in front of Youngs Park) is fab. Bear in mind though that South Sands (in front of Splashdown water park) has the same restrictions between May and October.

  • Are dogs allowed on Paignton Pier?

Yes. Dogs are allowed on the pier however they must be kept on a lead at all times.

  • Where can I park at Paignton Zoo?

Parking for the zoo is clearly signposted from the roundabout on Claylands Drive and is available in either the tiered outdoor car park above the zoo or the overflow car park off Battersway Road just a couple of minutes’ walk away. Designated disabled bays can be found on the first level of the main car park, and visitors can be dropped outside and collected from the turning circle at the main zoo entrance.

  • Will Paignton Zoo get more elephants?

Unfortunately no. While the zoo trust continues to support elephant conservation in the wild, they do believe that the zoo cannot provide a suitable environment for these large, highly intelligent creatures.
