With more of us buying electric and hybrid vehicles, the desire for self-catering cottages with EV charging has never been greater when searching for the perfect getaway.

Until recently, finding holiday cottages that offer electric vehicle chargers on site was a bit of a challenge. However, since the government’s announcement of its intentions to have fewer new diesel and petrol cars on the road from 2030, many holiday homes have now opted to install electric vehicle (EV) charging points on site.
For many holidaymakers, the need to enjoy a more sustainable holiday has become a priority. Along with choosing a property that offers more environmentally friendly heating options and systems to reduce waste, electric vehicle charging is a priority for the more green-conscious guest, allowing them to enjoy their getaway with minimal impact to the environment.
Nearly a quarter of Luxury Coastal’s properties offer an electric vehicle charging point on site, and this number is set to increase rapidly as our owners invest in more sustainable long term solutions for their properties.
If you’re driving an electric car you’ll want the convenience of recharging at your accommodation rather than relying solely on public chargers, which may involve long waits or having to go out of your way. Having an onsite charger allows you to explore local attractions without the concern of running low on power, especially in more remote areas of the South West where charging infrastructure is still developing.
This collection of self-catering holiday lets spans a variety of property types from lodges to apartments, big houses and cosy cottages, so whether you’re searching for a couples’ retreat in the countryside or a seaside break with all the family, you’ll have your pick of the perfect place for you.

All our properties are individually owned and managed. If one of our holiday cottages with EV charging does require an additional fee, this will be noted within the property’s description page on our website. Please check each cottage for details of what type of charger they have, and whether it is complimentary or chargeable.
Each property will have its own method of payment. For example some will require you to use an app while others may request this as a fee to be added to your booking. Our friendly team are happy to provide you with all the information you need prior to you confirming a booking. Once you’ve made your booking all relevant information pertaining to what kind of app you’ll need can be found within your pre-arrival documents.
If you do happen to find yourself low on charge before you reach your holiday property and need to do a top up there’s good news. According to Zap Map there are 2,054 car charging points in the South West with handy online maps and resources available through various sites to show where these are located. Meaning that the chances of there being a charging point near to the location of your holiday property are high. We would recommend checking this before making your booking.
Most of our single properties have EV chargers that are for the sole use of current guests. However, lodge sites with more than one property may have shared EV chargers which will be on a first come first served basis unless otherwise stated within the property description on our website.
