What is a Good Housekeeping Bond?

A Good Housekeeping Bond (also referred to as a ‘Damage Deposit’ or ‘Security Deposit’) may be required to cover any damage caused during a stay or excessive cleaning needed upon departure, beyond what would be considered reasonable.

If a Good Housekeeping Bond is applicable, this will be clearly stated on the individual property page and in the booking confirmation. The fee is separate from the holiday cost and is collected seven days before the start of the stay. It is then refunded seven days after departure, provided that no damages or excessive cleaning requirements have been reported by the housekeepers. Refunds may take ? working days to appear in the account.

What is the Accidental Damage Waiver?

The Accidental Damage Waiver is a non-refundable fee that can be paid in place of the Good Housekeeping Bond. Opting for this waiver means the Good Housekeeping Bond will not be required. The waiver covers the cost of repairing or replacing accidental damage to the property or its contents during the stay, up to the value of the property’s Good Housekeeping Bond. Not all properties offer an Accidental Damage Waiver; however, where available, this will be clearly stated on the individual property page along with its cost.

Are there any limitations to its coverage?

The waiver does not cover damage caused by misuse, failure to follow house rules, or intentional acts. In such cases, any reasonable costs required to repair or replace damaged items or address the issue (including costs related to excessive cleaning) must be covered by the guest. These costs will be communicated in writing, with payment required within 14 days of notification.

Can the waiver be added to an existing booking?

The waiver can be added to a booking at any time before the security deposit is collected, provided it is still available on the property’s webpage at the time of request. If, for any reason, the waiver is no longer offered, it cannot be added, and the Good Housekeeping Bond will need to be paid instead.
