For many holidaymakers, enjoying a more sustainable break has become a priority. Along with choosing a property that offers environmentally friendly heating systems, solar panels or other energy-saving features, electric vehicle charging allows you to enjoy your getaway with less impact on the environment while supporting greener tourism across the South West.
Nearly a quarter of Luxury Coastal’s properties now offer an electric vehicle charging point on site, and this number continues to grow as more owners invest in sustainable long-term improvements to their holiday homes.
If you’re driving an electric car, you’ll appreciate the convenience of recharging at your accommodation rather than relying solely on public chargers, which can sometimes involve queues or taking a detour from your plans. Having an onsite charger means you can head out each day with confidence, whether you’re spending time on the coast, visiting local attractions or exploring some of the South West’s more rural areas where charging infrastructure is still developing.
Our collection of self-catering holiday homes includes everything from lodges and apartments to spacious family houses and cosy cottages, so whether you’re planning a romantic escape, a family holiday or a getaway with friends, you’ll find somewhere to suit your stay.
From beautiful beaches to buzzing surf towns, Cornwall is made for exploring. Having an EV charger at your holiday cottage means you can spend your days discovering more of the county without worrying about finding your next charging point.
Explore the galleries and beaches of St Ives, spend the day surfing in Newquay, enjoy award-winning restaurants in Padstow, or wander the harbourside in Falmouth before returning to your holiday home to recharge overnight.
Whether you’re heading for the dramatic coastline or the rolling countryside, our Devon holiday cottages with EV charging provide the perfect base for exploring.
Discover the beaches and coastal paths of North Devon, explore the estuaries and waterside villages of the South Hams, or follow the spectacular Jurassic Coast through East Devon. Venture inland to walk across Dartmoor or Exmoor National Park, then return to your holiday home knowing your vehicle can recharge while you relax.
Somerset offers the perfect mix of rolling countryside, historic towns and spectacular landscapes, making it ideal for exploring by electric vehicle. Staying in a holiday cottage with EV charging means you can spend your days discovering more of the county without worrying about where to recharge.
Visit the beautiful cathedral city of Wells, browse the independent shops and cafés of Somerton, or explore the dramatic limestone gorge and famous caves in Cheddar. Venture into Exmoor National Park or enjoy the county’s peaceful countryside before returning to your holiday home to recharge overnight.
The type of charger varies between properties. Each property listing will confirm the charger available and any information you’ll need before you arrive.
A tethered charger has a charging cable permanently attached, allowing you to simply plug your vehicle in.
An untethered charger does not have a fixed cable, so you’ll need to bring your own compatible charging lead.
Many of our holiday homes are fitted with Type 2 chargers, which are compatible with most electric vehicles in the UK and Europe. Please check the individual property listing for confirmation.
Charging speeds vary depending on both the charger installed at the property and your vehicle’s charging capability. Most are designed for convenient overnight charging during your stay.
If your holiday cottage has a tethered charger, the cable will already be attached. If it has an untethered charger, you’ll usually need to bring your own Type 2 charging cable. The property description will confirm what’s provided or you can contact us to make sure ahead of your booking.
Some owners include EV charging within the cost of your stay, while others may make a small additional charge based on electricity usage. Please check the individual property listing for details.
Each property will have its own method of payment. For example some will require you to use an app while others may request this as a fee to be added to your booking. Our friendly team are happy to provide you with all the information you need prior to you confirming a booking. Once you’ve made your booking all relevant information pertaining to what kind of app you’ll need can be found within your pre-arrival documents.
If you do happen to find yourself low on charge before you reach your holiday property and need to do a top up there’s good news. According to Zap Map there are 2,054 car charging points in the South West with handy online maps and resources available through various sites to show where these are located. Meaning that the chances of there being a charging point near to the location of your holiday property are high. We would recommend checking this before making your booking.
Most of our single properties have EV chargers that are for the sole use of current guests. However, lodge sites with more than one property may have shared EV chargers which will be on a first come first served basis unless otherwise stated within the property description on our website.
