From its humble beginnings as a quaint fishing settlement to its modern-day popularity as one of Cornwall’s prettiest seaside holiday destinations, Mousehole manages to retain the charm of a bygone Cornish village.

Mousehole parking

Narrow streets and winding lanes add a whimsical atmosphere but of course this (as with many of its Cornish seaside village counterparts), means that parking can, during certain times of the year pose a challenge. Thankfully, Mousehole does have a handful of good public car parks which, due to the small size of the village, means you won’t need to walk too far to get to your self-catering cottage. But if you’re able to find a property that has its own parking, it’s a real bonus.

Finding a holiday cottage in Mousehole with parking is a rare thing, and we’re delighted to present a small collection of properties that do offer their own private spaces. The beautiful Haybarn lies just beyond the village and is just a few minutes’ drive from the harbour. The house offers two parking spaces as well as four bedrooms and a massive garden so if you’re a family travelling with more than one vehicle this is a great option. Alternatively, if you’d like to be a bit closer to the sea, our lovely Mousehole View apartment is less than 100m from the beach and has its own private parking space in a garage.

However, if one of our other lovely Mousehole cottages takes your fancy you’ll find that that they lie within no more than 10 minutes’ walk of a public car park so if your preferred holiday home doesn’t have parking, one of these will do nicely.

Two Harbour Authority car parks at North or South Quay are available. For more information about North and South Quay car parks from the Harbour Authority’s website, please click here

The Parade Car Park on the outskirts of the village is a privately owned facility so prices are subject to change however current charges (as of 2021) are £9.00 for an overnight stay. Please note that parking here is strictly monitored and even slight overstays are heavily fined. Please bear in mind that on-street parking is scarce as the village’s streets are very narrow. At very busy times when these car parks are full, the village of Paul which is located up a steep hill at the top of Mousehole Lane is an option however the walk up is strenuous.
