In the heart of the South West our lovely team here at Luxury Coastal has been on a journey of creativity, growth, and friendship. It’s not just a job for us; it’s a way of life. We mix hard work and professionalism with fun, which keeps us motivated to be our best every single day.
To help you get to know us a bit better, we’ve asked our team to share their answers to a few fun yet pertinent questions – and yes of course, one of them is about jam and cream!
Lois Lacey – Owner Partnerships Executive
With her infectious positivity and can-do approach to just about anything, Torquay-based Lois forms an integral part of our ‘Owner Partnerships Team’. From onboarding your property, to updating you on its performance, Lois is a one-stop-shop for delivering an amazing service to our owners.
What do you love most about working at LC?
Everyone is approachable and there’s a really relaxed atmosphere (even though it’s busy). AND you can bring your dog to work!
What 3 words do you think describe working within Team LC?
Enjoyable. Rewarding. Supportive.
What makes you smile?
Being in the sea, buying plants, and spending time with like-minded people.
Traditional fisherman’s cottage or contemporary beach house?
Cottage for me please!
If you could spend a day anywhere in Devon or Cornwall, where would you choose and why?
That’s a tough one as there are so many beautiful places to choose from, but if I had to pick one it would be the towns, villages and beaches of St Ives Bay.
Where’s your favourite local place to have brekkies, brunch or a coffee?
Me & Mrs Jones in Wellswood Torquay. Their homemade pies and quiches with salad are to die for. My favourite is the butternut, beetroot and feta parcel.
And finally…and most importantly…. Cream or jam first?
I’m from Devon – cream of course!
Mike Turpin – Finance Director
Captain of the calculator, owner relations expert, and true gentleman, Mike lives in Paignton. Always there to help, a huge part of his role is to support our owners as well as our in-house Property Partnerships Team, plus if there’s a question you have that relates to numbers, he’ll be on it in ‘two shakes of a lamb’s tail’.
What do you love most about working at LC?
I love how fixated we are on being the best we can be as a business, for the people who work here, for our communities, customers, and partners. We’ve made a decision to do things the right way always – not only when it’s convenient.
What 3 words do you think describe working within Team LC?
Honest. Kind. Straightforward.
What makes you smile?
Good people, friends, family and connection. And my dog Remy.
Traditional fisherman’s cottage or contemporary beach house?
Both. If I’m going away with a group of friends, then a beach house like Gwithian Lookout is exact-ly the spot. But if it’s a wintery break for two, the cosy factor wins hands down, so I’ll take the sea-side cottage.
If you could spend a day anywhere in Devon or Cornwall, where would you choose and why?
Goodrington near to where I live. It has everything you need whether you’ve got kids to entertain, a dog to walk or a few hours to while away.
Where’s your favourite local place to have brekkies, brunch or a coffee?
In the summer it’s a cold pint, delicious lunch and live music at Cantina in Goodrington. And Cary Arms in Babbacombe at any time of year. The food and views are sensational.
And finally…and most importantly…. Cream or jam first?
C’mon. Cream.
Larah Walker – Content Executive
Why use two words when you can use twenty? In conversation that is. Lover of a good yarn with a passion for cooking, Brixham-based Larah is our in-house writer and coffee whipper-upper (a sideline she’s been happy to embrace).
What do you love most about working at LC?
The people. Genuinely caring, utterly supportive and thoroughly down to earth.
What 3 words do you think describe working within Team LC?
Fun. Happy. Rewarding.
What makes you smile?
My daughter who is getting wiser by the day. My husband who is literally my best friend. And my dog who is unconditionally loving.
Traditional fisherman’s cottage or contemporary beach house?
It’s got to be the fisherman’s cottage. I’m a romantic, so the thought of whitewashed walls, a roaring fire, and a cosy window seat where I can flick through a magazine is very appealing.
If you could spend a day anywhere in Devon or Cornwall, where would you choose and why?
I think I’d do a road trip through the South Hams, stopping off for coffee and cake at Start Bay Inn and a pub lunch somewhere like The Milbrook Inn in South Pool. But I love Dartmoor and Gwithian in St Ives Bay too!
Where’s your favourite local place to have brekkies, brunch or a coffee?
Café on The Green in Widecombe in the Moor on Dartmoor. Their full English is fantastic with local sausages and bacon…and they make their own baked beans!
And finally…and most importantly…. Cream or jam first?
Ok so I’m not Cornish but it’s got to be jam first.
