We’ve loved getting together to chat about our favourite local places and what it’s like to work as a part of the LC team. Here we have the second of our team’s Q&A’s which includes a few great tips on must-see spots in Devon and Cornwall, and where to eat out. Enjoy!
Emily Judge – Campaign Manager
Queen of reels and organiser extraordinaire, Emily hails from Teignmouth but is also proudly part-Scottish. A dream to work with, she enjoys a bit of good banter, and laughs at everyone’s jokes (even the bad ones). Emily brings plenty of experience to her role and has single-handedly and very successfully taken the helm of LC’s social media ship, as well as formed some incredible partnerships with local businesses and community initiatives.
What do you love most about working at LC?
For me, it’s the people; everyone is so passionate about what we do, and we all have each other’s backs. Teamwork makes the dream work.
What 3 words do you think describe working within Team LC?
Joy. Passion. Honesty.
What makes you smile?
Long, lazy lie-ins and bacon baps. I also LOVE playing hockey, so you’ll find me on the pitch every Saturday morning during the season.
Traditional fisherman’s cottage or contemporary beach house?
Contemporary beach house for sure. I’m a sucker for big, glass-fronted house with a cracking view of the seaside.
If you could spend a day anywhere in Devon or Cornwall, where would you choose and why?
Falmouth in Cornwall instantly comes to mind. I studied at Falmouth University, so it’ll always be my second home. My itinerary would be: Breakfast at Windjammer Cafe, overlooking the harbour. A stroll underneath the colourful bunting that lines the Highstreet, popping into all of the independent shops along the way. An ice cream at Gylly Beach (Mint choc chip, of course) and a paddle. I’d then finish off the day with dinner at The Meat Counter – they do the BEST burgers. I might have to book myself a little Cornish staycation…
Where’s your favourite local place to have brekkies, brunch or a coffee?
So I’m now based in East Devon, and my favourite place to get brekkies is Toast in Honiton. Their breakfasts cure-all.
And finally…and most importantly…. Cream or jam first?
Cream first… duh! (…sorry to all my Cornish chums)

Traditional fisherman’s cottage or contemporary beach house?
Beach house. I’ve had some of best holidays with family at Gwithian Lookout.
If you could spend a day anywhere in Devon or Cornwall, where would you choose and why?
Gwithian. It’s a special place that holds lovely memories of being with my clan.
Where’s your favourite local place to have brekkies, brunch or a coffee?
We don’t really eat out much but we love browsing local shops. My favourite is Hyde and Seek gift shop in Exeter. It’s crammed with treasures. I mean where else are you going to buy a fish-shaped corkscrew?
And finally…and most importantly…. Cream or jam first?
Whichever is closest on the table!

Traditional fisherman’s cottage or contemporary beach house?
Oh definitely a cottage. I love imagining what they’ve seen as time has passed, and finding out if they have a story to tell.
If you could spend a day anywhere in Devon or Cornwall, where would you choose and why?
I have such fond memories with Fingle Bridge on Dartmoor. There’s a real emotional connection there for me.
Where’s your favourite local place to have brekkies, brunch or a coffee?
There are a few. Topsham Saturday Market for fresh produce especially baked goodies from Ed the Breadman. River Shack in Stoke Gabriel is terrific food in a peaceful setting on The Dart.
And finally…and most importantly…. Cream or jam first?
No messing about. Cream.

Traditional fisherman’s cottage or contemporary beach house?
Both actually. A beach house for a trip away with friends or for a big family get together, and a cottage for chilled out breaks.
If you could spend a day anywhere in Devon or Cornwall, where would you choose and why?
Pedn Vounder in Cornwall. Such a beautiful spot which feels secluded and other-worldly…I could literally spend days there.

Jam Jar in Crantock for the best bagels ever, and their pizzas as delicious too!
