Resting on the north coast, Carbis Bay is a beautiful place for a fabulous Cornish getaway. Whether you’re sojourning as a family, with a canine companion, or as a couple, this guide will help you make the most of 48 hours in this idyllic seaside destination. Don’t forget your camera—those views are too beautiful not to capture!
Morning
Start your day with breakfast and a freshly brewed coffee at The Deli & Deli Restaurant on the promenade overlooking the sea. Tuck into fresh pastries or a hearty fry-up – it’s the ideal place to fuel up before heading down to the sand for a stroll or a dip.
Afternoon
Ready for some fun in the water? Enjoy a sea swim in the calm, clear water of the bay, or rent equipment from The Ocean Sports Centre whose set-up is right on the beach. Try kayaking or paddleboarding – and if you’re a bit of a daredevil they offer Foil sessions / lessons as well.
Evening
Romano’s Italian Trattoria is a family-run gem and a favourite with locals. The authentic wood-fired calzone is Bellissima! But there are other wonderful dishes to try too if you’re not a fan of the dough. The atmosphere is rustic, cosy and inviting – a great way to end your first day.
Morning
Take a stroll down to Carbis Bay Train Station on Porthrepta Road (just off the main road down to the beach). Reportedly favoured by her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the journey to nearby St Ives is a superbly scenic three-minutes, and a lovely thing to do on the last day of your visit. Once in St Ives, take some time to explore its art galleries, boutique shops, and harbour before heading back to Carbis Bay along the South West Coast Path.
Afternoon
If you’re traveling with children, spend the afternoon at Paradise Park, a fantastic family attraction with soft play areas, mini-golf, and lots of cute animals to meet.
For dog lovers, Steeple Woodland Nature Reserve is fab, with scenic trails and sea views – perfect for an afternoon hike surrounded by nature. If you’re more inclined to relax, simply head back to Carbis Bay Beach for more time in the crystal-clear waters or some sunbathing.
Evening
As the day winds down, settle in for a cocktail at the Cocktail Box, a summertime-only bar down on the seafront with incredible views of the beach and bay. For dinner out, why not treat yourself to a delectable meal at the Beach Club Restaurant, where you can savour the fabulous dishes on its menu while soaking up those outrageously gorgeous views. Or, if you’d prefer your evening to be a casual at-home-affair, pop over to Becks Fish & Chips for a fresh seafood takeaway.
