GETTING THERE

At Lym House, park up, step inside and soak up the luxury of your tastefully furnished beautifully equipped holiday home before dropping off your bag in one of its five lovely bedrooms and heading out to explore. Perhaps take a leisurely stroll down to the beach or go for a walk along its harbour wall, also known as the Cobb.
The views from here across to the Jurassic coastline are nothing short of spectacular, so it’s a great way to immerse in the beauty of your coastal getaway’s surroundings. If the weather’s warm or you’re feeling brave, have a dip in the sea before heading back home.
Later, make your way to The Oyster and Fish House, (a ten-ish minute walk away) where acclaimed chef Mark Hix serves mouth-watering seafood that pairs beautifully with stunning views over the harbour. A few of his understated dishes include Simply grilled fish on the bone with beautifully fresh local shellfish, Crab on Toast and Ceviche.
Burn off a few calories (just a few) with a wander around town on your way back, perusing or popping into independent shops and galleries including Paper Bird, Fuego and Coombe Art Gallery along the way. Back at base, settle into a comfy sofa in the lounge with a good book or savour an afternoon nap.
In the evening, amble down to Lilac Restaurant and Wine Bar which is just a couple of minutes’ walk from your front door. Set within a charming 400-year-old cellar on Broad Street, here you can sample delicious dishes from seasonal and locally produced ingredients while enjoying a glass or two of wine sourced from organic, biodynamic, and low intervention winemakers.
As the morning unfolds, drive eight minutes out of town and stop in for a caffeine fix at Koffie At Rousdon, followed by a quick browse around lifestyle store Brogan Bruzec next door.
Once you’ve fuelled up make your way to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall famed River Cottage HQ for a fantastic hands-on cookery course of your choice like pasta, cheese and bread making, fish filleting, fermentation, curing, or the art of smoking.
Tuck into something yummy from the River Cottage Kitchen & Store which is above the cookery school and overlooks the Axe Valley. With organic ingredients at the forefront of every dish, it’s a great way to sample the food that has earned River Cottage its outstanding reputation for sustainable and incredibly delicious produce.
Depending on the day’s indulgences you may or may not fancy eating out in the evening. For the ‘nots’ there’s the option of a mezze-style dinner at home with a selection of handmade pies & pasties. cured olives, cheeses, and charcuterie and salads bought from the Good Food Cafe & Deli down the road.
For those opting to eat out, the award-winning Tom’s Lyme Regis is the place to go for a delectable dinner overlooking the beach and sea. Order freshly caught mussels, a Fillet or Dartmoor Beef, or Holsworthy Farm Pork Loin, washed down with a glass of Castlewood Brut.
