It’s officially the ‘love’ month and appropriately, Valentine’s Day sits right in the middle of February…as though the two weeks before and the two after are giving it a great big hug. This is the perfect time of year to celebrate your awesome twosome-ness, so we’ve been searching for ways to help you make your time together just that little bit more lovely.

A decadent night in

Cosying up in the comfort of your own home can be one of the most romantic things you do and we love the idea of a homecooked meal with wine. Based in Somerset, the small family-run Brown & Forrest Smokery produce delicious hot and cold smoked foods, and with two rump steaks, stilton cheese, smoked salmon, syrup sponge bread and butter puddings AND wine, their ‘Supper For Two’ is a real treat delivered right to your door.

Your luxury bolthole

If you’d like somewhere slightly further flung from home, we have the perfect place for you. This hideout for two can be found tucked away in the rural landscape that lies just four minute’s-drive from the town of Wells in Somerset and it’s something rather special. You’ll have quiet walks in the countryside to enjoy, a wood-fired hot tub to soak in, and of course a gorgeous interior completed with a stunning master bedroom for lazy lie-ins.

Indulgent afternoon tea

Tea for two when shared at a table in Dolly’s beautiful Georgian tearoom in Falmouth, couldn’t be a more intimate affair. This traditional tearoom serving afternoon teas and homemade cakes transforms into a candlelit bar in the evening. So, if you feel like staying put and making a night of it, you’ll be able to swap your loose leaf for cocktails which are also served in teapots and poured into vintage cups. Open from Wednesday through to Saturday from 12am to 8ish.

Fresh air frolics

What could be more romantic than windswept hair, sweeping ocean views and total seclusion? If you’re looking for a picturesque spot to spend time together it doesn’t get more perfect than that of the South West Coast Path along Godrevy Head in west Cornwall. And with its landmark lighthouse weathering the St Ives Bay swell in the distance, you’ll be forgiven for taking more than a few selfies along the way.

Your own gin collaboration

You’re a great team so why not combine your creative skills by concocting your very own signature gin. Salcombe Gin’s award-winning Gin School experience will let you take charge of a beautiful mini copper still to develop and distil your very own 70cl bottle of gin to share. You’ll be personalising your label then bottling your gin and placing it in a presentation box ready to take home. Your experience will end in their waterside bar where you’ll be served a sample of your gin (set aside from before so you won’t be dipping into your bottle) with a choice of garnishes and tonics to complement your recipe – lovely!

Share a sunset

And in our opinion, there is no better place for it than on the North Devon coast around Woolacombe where, as the sun seemingly melts into the sea on the widest of horizons, a majestic display of luminous pinks, oranges, and golds unfolds. Pack a flask of hot chocolate and a couple of blankets into your rucksack and head down to the beach for an evening picnic and a magical atmosphere.
