If you’re looking for the best way to enjoy Brixham, a cottage overlooking the harbour is just the thing. Our Brixham Harbour accommodation can be found dotted on the hills that surround the bay, and offer guests a terrific vantage point from which to enjoy the changing scenes of one of Devon’s most iconic working harbours.
A break in one of our harbourside Brixham cottages means you won’t need your car to see some of the town’s best bits. Life centres around the harbour which means a morning stroll down to the quay is the best way to start the day. Grab a coffee on the way, then wander around the water’s edge while taking in scenes of trawlers bringing in their latest catches.
The seafront winds its way towards the marina where sailing boats, yachts and dinghys float gently on their moorings, and when there’s a sea breeze, you’ll hear the sound of their riggings clipping the masts. Further on you’ll discover Breakwater Beach’s pebble crescent which is the perfect place to stop and enjoy the view. From here you can see the bay stretching all the way over to Torquay, a view that looks impossibly wide as the horizon melts into the water.
If you’re feeling energetic, make your way along the mile long Breakwater to the little lighthouse at the end, a walk that’s predominantly flat and suitable for pushchairs. At this point you can wander back to your cottage to take it easy for the rest of the day, or if you’re in the mood to make a full morning of it you can continue on to Berry Head Nature Reserve. The 3 mile walk is well worth the effort as the views and opportunities for wildlife spotting are outstanding.
Our Brixham Harbour accommodation also means you’ll be super close to the many wonderful restaurants that pepper Brixham’s waterfront. Of course, if you love seafood you’ll be spoilt for choice with a plethora of outstanding eateries all serving some of Brixham’s finest and freshest fish. There’s the iconic Rockfish which sits right on the fish quay where incredible views over the bay can be enjoyed, and Simply Fish just back from the harbour, where you’ll be treated to the crispiest battered cod and chips ever.
If you’re not a big fan of seafood you’ll be happy to know that a clutch of superb restaurants like Albero, Beamers and Quay 57 offer a variety of land-based produce on their menus including fillet steak and burgers, and if you just fancy a lovely glass of wine and nibbles, The Wine loft is the place to go.
