For guests travelling with younger children it’s lovely to have a place that caters specifically to keeping them entertained. Lodge 40, Retallack Resort includes tons of toddler and baby equipment as well as a playhouse, children’s bedroom with a fixed cot, and two additional travel cots. Master Shipwrights House near Falmouth has a children’s room with toys and games as well as a big lawn for toddlers to run free.

Top 5 things to do in Cornwall with kids

Every parent knows how hard it can be to get kids off their tablets and phones, but a bit of fresh air action is the perfect antidote.

On-site activities
Booking your holiday at  Retallack Resort and Spa means you’ll have a range of fantastic things to do right on the doorstep like paddle boarding and wakeboarding, the Flow Rider surf simulator, inflatable aqua park and volleyball court. There’s even a man-made beach with a bar and restaurant.

Coasteering
Coasteering is a great way to experience bits of the coast that are a bit less accessible like sea caves and coves, gullies and whirlpool eddies. Activities include deep water jumps and more, under expert supervision. Children as young as 8 years old are welcomed (accompanied by an adult of course).

Surf lessons
Surf lessons are available at just about every good beach in Cornwall that has surfable waves. Among the most popular are Harlyn Surf School in Harlyn Bay, Global Boarders in Praa Sands and Gwithian, West Country Surf School on Fistral Beach, Portreath Surfing School, and Blue Surf School in Watergate Bay

Discover Sea Pools
Along with sandy beaches, Cornwall’s coastline has rocky outcrops which have eroded to form rockpools and larger tidal pools. These pools can be found dotted all along the shoreline and are great places to explore and swim. Best known are Kynance Cove and St Ives Mermaid pools, Whipsiderry in Newquay, Godrevy and Portreath.

Walk the Coast Path
Finding a suitable walk for the family (long or short) is super easy with the South West Coast Path nearby. Two popular routes are Carbis Bay to St Ives which is a lovely scenic 1-mile route that’s considered to be one of the more family-friendly walks. And Penzance to Marazion which is a flat, pushchair-friendly seafront walk with amazing sea views over Mounts Bay.
