Why we love our ‘footsteps from the beach’ collection…

You woke up at 6:00am, chucked your bags in the car and have been driving south ever since. One more bend on a twisty lane, and there it suddenly is. The sea! And nothing says you’re on holiday better. Kids squeal in delight and we adults get that wonderful assurance of knowing that pretty soon, we’ll be opening the front door to our luxury coastal cottage, plonking our cases down, and sinking into a comfy seat with nothing that needs doing apart from some serious relaxation.

Not much tops a holiday cottage with sea views, except that is, for one that rests a pebble’s throw from the beach. This is the dream coastal getaway for most of us and fortunately, with its sprawling coastline and plethora of beaches, the South West has some of the best on offer.

Swish and spacious apartments, swanky houses and seafront cottages all within a few metres of the water’s edge so you can finish your brekkies and be in the water in under 5 minutes. We love the shingle stretches at both Slapton and Beesands. Both beaches have open bays and calm, clear sea so for early morning dips or afternoon SUP’s it doesn’t get much better. Our At The Beach apartments in Torcross sit mere metres from Slapton’s shore, as does the wonderful Beam Ends in Beesands. Further south in Holywell Bay, Cornwall you’ll find Beachcomber set in amongst the dunes, sands practically on the doorstep, as well as a clutch of beautiful Newquay apartments that rest just a stroll away from Fistral Beach.

So, forget sensible walking shoes, there’ll be none of that…a pair of flip flops, sarong and tee will do just fine. Of course, if you have children in tow, they’ll delight in being able to spend hours paddling in the shallows or building sandcastles uninterrupted by an early departure home for lunch. And for those with four-legged family members you’ll be able to nip down for walkies any time of the day or evening.
