Why EV Charging?

Until recently, finding holiday cottages with EV charging has posed a bit of a challenge, but thankfully all that seems to be changing. Since the government’s announcement of its intentions to have fewer new diesel and petrol cars on the road from 2030, many holiday homes have now opted to install electric vehicle (EV) charging points on site. Which is good news for holidaymakers countrywide.

All of our holiday cottages in this collection have EV charging points onsite so you’ll not only be blissfully comfortable in a beautiful seaside cottage but you’ll also have peace of mind knowing that your vehicle is powering up while you’re winding down. And that means you’ll be able to make the most of every minute of your time together.

Will I be charged extra?

All of our properties are individually owned and managed. If one of our holiday cottages with EV charging does require an additional fee, this will be noted within the property’s description page on our website. Please check each cottage for details of what type of charger they have, and whether it is complimentary or chargeable.

Are there many other EV charging points in the area?

Those visiting the South West should be able to find a charging point pretty easily as statistics reveal that this is the area that has seen the greatest increase in EV charging point installations so far. In October of 2020 a number of ‘rapid’ EV charge points were commissioned for public use at various council car parks in South Hams and Teignbridge along with many other initiatives by local councils in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset to increase the number of charging points in the area since.

How can I find local charging points when on holiday?

According to Zap Map there are 2,054 car charging points in the South West with handy online maps and resources available through various sites to show where these are located. Meaning that the chances of there being a charging point near to the location of your holiday property are high. We would recommend checking this before making your booking.
