If water sports are your thing, you’ll be hard pressed to find better conditions for indulging your passion. The water down in the bay is clear and calm, so much so that it has rightly earned itself the UK’s prestigious Blue Flag status. Several equipment hire companies have set up base on the shore so whether you’re dipping your toe in for the first time, or you’re something of an expert, you’ll have all you need to enjoy yourself in the water from boards and lessons to guided tours.

If eating out plays a big part on your holiday schedule, Carbis Bay itself offers a handful of fantastic restaurants. If you like a spot of fine dining you’ll love The Ugly Butterfly Restaurant and Bar. Award-winning chef Adam Handler (a regular on BBC Two’s Great British as well as a Michelin star holder for his flagship restaurant The Frog) serves up positively beautiful plates of food that you can enjoy in a spectacular setting, and if you enjoy a cheeky cocktail, you’ll have 12 delectable offerings to choose from.

For something a little more continental there’s LaCasita on Trencrom Lane. Bringing an authentic taste of Spain to the Cornish coastline there are tapas dishes, paellas and pizzas to sample including Mixed Cured Spanish Meat Croqueta, Monkfish, prawns, mussels & squid paella, and Diavolo pizza. St Ives and its restaurants are also within easy reach, as are its gorgeous beaches, art-laden streets and boutiquey shops, so if you fancy making a daytrip of it, simply hop on to a train at the station in Carbis Bay and enjoy a short journey with some amazing scenery.
