We dog owners know that nothing stops us from getting our canines out for their daily leg-stretching, and that definitely includes the weather! Lucky for us, here in Devon and Cornwall, some of our best dog-friendly beaches have equally terrific beachside cafes where we can enjoy a wintry warmer after braving the elements. Here are some of our favourites…
Located next to Praa Sands beach, this cafe on the sand is the perfect place for a hot chocolate after walkies. With a gorgeous indoor space as well as an outdoor terrace with stunning views, it’s a welcome post-walk pitstop. The menu is features dishes created using fresh ingredients including their signature brioche baps. For lunch or dinner, they offer made-to-order pizzas, along with mussels and homemade focaccia, crab nachos and more.

What better way to warm up after a bracing beach walk that with a huge hot drink and some hearty winter grub. This brilliant café on Poldhu Cove is open every day of the year with breakfast baps, scrumptious ciabatta, specialty hot drinks, homemade cakes and pastries on the menu. You can also pre-order a delicious stonebaked pizza online before your stroll!
While your furballs can join you year-round, just remember they’re not allowed on the beach during July and August.

Overlooking one of the best dog-friendly beaches in Cornwall, The Beach Hut has excellent food and views, plus its super dog-friendly. Tire your pups out with a lovely long walk before settling down to one of their Extreme Hot Chocolates or famous burgers – fab!

Right on the beautiful Blackpool Sands Beach in the South Hams, this cafe, restaurant and lounge is as much a post-walk treat for you as it is for your dogs. Early birds hitting the coast path can enjoy breakfast which is served until 11.00am. Pastries, cakes and drinks served all day, along with Sunday Roast at the beach! Well behaved pooches on leads are welcome inside as long as they are clean and dry! But not to worry – they’ve installed a drying station just outside.

Sitting on Baggy Point headland, this fab beach cafe is ideal after a brisk winter walk. Enjoy phenomenal sea views and a chilled-out vibe where both you and your canines can unwind. They serve delicious, locally sourced meals from 9 am to 4 pm every day including an all-day breakfast, delicious cream teas and hearty sandwiches. Plus, your furry friends are welcome to join you either outside on the terrace, or inside the restaurant!
