A short break
4.3/5

Unfortunately although it stated on the website there was a bar/ restaurant we found out that this , the restaurant wasn't open until March. We believe this could've been mentioned earlier in the ad or during the booking process or even advertised a closed until March. We couldn't fault the lodge, but we believe we had the best lodge on site, and we say this as the others looked a little tired, in need of attention to the outside. Hot tubs elsewhere on site were uncovered to the elements/mouldy and in need of some care and attention.

Paul, 30 Jan 2025

Hi Paul, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience didn't meet your expectations due to the bar and restaurant being closed during your stay. We have since been informed by the site that they are closed due to refurbishments and have let all guests know. We do apologise we were not informed before your arrival. We are delighted that you enjoyed your lodge and appreciate your kind words about it. However, we regret to hear about the condition of the other lodges and hot tubs on the site. As all lodges are individually owned we will be sure to pass this onto The Fingle Glen site so they can look into this. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve our services, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future with an enhanced experience. Best wishes, The Luxury Coastal team

Relaxing
3.5/5

Lovely place but no tv in room as stated, bed was loose and wobbly, no hand towels, pot holes were terrible and dried cereals on floor. If this was sorted would have been a perfect holiday, place is stunning and lovely cabins!

Natasha, 07 Nov 2024

Hi Natasha, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re delighted to hear that you found the location stunning. We have passed all your feedback on to the owners and the site management team. We apologise for the oversight regarding the TV in the bedroom, which was removed recently. We will ensure this information is updated promptly. The owner will also inspect the bed, as they regularly tighten it to ensure comfort. Regarding the potholes, the site team does their best to address them regularly, but we will recommend a more permanent solution. Your comments about cleanliness have been shared with our housekeeping team to ensure improvements are made. We hope to welcome you back for another stay soon. Best wishes, The Luxury Coastal Team

Generally great
4.3/5

Very clean, but a few things looking tired (eg chipped paint). Large tv and choice of apps, but poor Internet meant few would stream. Internet for Lodge was not available, so we had to piggy back ). Loved the hot tub, but wish there had been instructions on which buttons to press, turning it off was a challenge. It was stated that bit was cleaned daily, but leaves and insects accumulated. Track to lodges was full of potholes, one section in particular wax almost impassable with a huge cluster across the whole road. Location was good for travelling throughout Devon. Lodge had most things except a blind on the door (which felt exposed at night, only a tiny baking sheet, and only 2 rolls of toilet paper. No spare kitchen cupboard for our food, but a lovely large fridge freezer. Lots of hangers in the wardrobe which makes a nice change. A lot of minor grumbles which should be relatively easy to fix. Excellent view, mostly quiet and undisturbed, clean and cosy

Ruth, 21 Oct 2024

Hi Ruth, Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found the lodge clean, cosy, and well-located for exploring Devon. We appreciate your positive comments about the large TV, choice of apps, and the ample hangers in the wardrobe. We apologize for the inconveniences you experienced. Your comments about the chipped paint, poor internet connectivity, and the lack of instructions for the hot tub are noted. We will address these issues to improve our guests’ experience. We’re also sorry to hear about the potholes on the track to the lodges and the lack of a blind on the door. Thank you for pointing out the need for more kitchen storage and supplies. We will ensure that future guests have adequate kitchen amenities. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us make necessary improvements. We hope to welcome you back for an even better stay in the future. Best wishes, The Luxury Coastal Team

A Place to relax
5/5

We , my husband plus a very dear friend of ours took over our chalet in the afternoon . We couldn’t wait to see what this chalet was like having rented one on the same site last year . This one had been upgraded with modern furniture and fittings , the same style through out , even the two double bedrooms were nicely furnished ,with the same layout as the one last year. Two Very comfortable settees in grey velour in the lounge , table and chairs in a dinning area seating four . The kitchen is well equipped, right down to washing up liquid , dishwasher tablets ,tea towel ., on other occasions at such places we have taking those sort of essentials plus toilet roll with us. The beds were very comfortable with lovely white clean bedding also adequate towels for four people staying for three nights as we were. The outside space under cover is a table and chairs to watch the evening sun disappear behind the trees on the golf course , so pleasant and peaceful .To our surprise this chalet had a fully working hot tub to use as well , which delighted my husband .

Short Stay
5/5

Location fantastic. Lovely and relaxing and quiet. Clean and comfy. I would only ask that the hot tub is turned on earlier as it was still not up to temperature by 10pm of our first night there. Getting a taxi to different places can be a little expensive as there are no local taxis and they have to come from Exeter to come and get you. However the local pubs do great food.

Lovely lodge
3.7/5

It was a lovely lodge and hot tub nice too although not cleaned during our 7 day stay. Clean lodge and good facilities but bed was very squeaky if you moved, which was a shame. Location on golf course gave lovely views and was peaceful most of the time.

Chestnut lodge
5/5

Very very high quality lodge, Chestnut lodge is very modern, wonderful location on the golf course, wonderful spot for walking dog when golfers finished or early doors, don’t be put off by reviews on other older lodges at Fingle Glen, if you staying at Chestnut lodge is top notch in my opinion. Lovely hot tub. Very friendly at golf club reception. Great spot for touring the area and south coast, Exeter minutes away.
