You don’t have to travel far to feel like you’re a million miles away from it all. This beautiful, locally crafted shepherd’s hut in picturesque rural Somerset marries rustic simplicity with luxurious appeal and is the perfect place for couples to steal away to for a few days of blissful solitude. Perched at the top of a private meadow with sweeping views over the countryside and down to the sea, Dotty’s Hut is an idyllic retreat that sits within easy reach of the area’s walking and cycling routes as well as its fossil-filled beach at Kilve which is just 12 minutes’ walk away.

Inside, the hut is beautifully styled and lavishly kitted out and boasts the same high end features you’d expect to find in a boutique hotel. Brass kitchen worktops and a Belfast sink sit alongside tactile soft furnishings while the piece de resistance of an overhead skylight curves directly above the bed for midnight stargazing.

Both huts provide birdwatching and fossil kits as well as a map of the local area so all the day’s activities can be planned in advance, and the private wood-fired hot tub means guests can soak in the atmosphere at any time of day or night. Relax the afternoons away with a picnic for two in the surrounding meadows complete with a fantastic sea view then head back to the hut to huddle around the fire bowl as a delicious home cooked meal sizzles away.

Dotty’s Hut can be found on the family-run smallholding of Old Rectory House in Kilve, rural Somerset. To find out more about what the site offers including its surrounding attractions >> please click here
