In our previous blogs we’ve discussed topics like the things to consider when deciding if your holiday home should be pet-friendly, and what some of the benefits would be. If you’ve now made the decision to welcome dogs there are some terrific ways to ensure that your home is a comfortable and enjoyable place for both your guests and their pets.
Here are some of our suggestions:
Most pet-friendly holiday properties will include pet essentials such as food and water bowls, pet beds or blankets, and waste disposal bags. But if you’d like to set yourself apart it may be worth adding unexpected surprises like toys or locally produced treats. Both dogs and their humans will appreciate the gesture!
You’re most likely a big fan of your property’s location. You’re probably also a bit of an oracle on the best things to see and do in the area. Guests love to have suggestions from locals whether it be dog-friendly restaurants or the best walks for their four-legged companions. Perhaps compile a list of the best pet-friendly beaches, walking routes, attractions and eateries nearby so that visitors can pack their days with activities for all the family to enjoy.
If you have outdoor space it’s always worth enclosing it so that pets are free to roam safely. Consider adding features like a secure fence or solid gate so that even the wiliest of canines won’t be able to wangle their way out. An outside tap with hose or shower is a huge bonus too. Most guests will appreciate being able to desand or wash off after muddy adventures. And it’s a good way to keep your property clean.
