The home’s four bedrooms lie upstairs on the first floor and include two super kings (with the option of converting to twins), a bunk room which is ideally suited to children, and a room with a double sofa bed which accesses the balcony. There’s also a family bathroom on this floor with bath and shower over, while a separate cloakroom can be found off the hall on the ground floor.
Just 3 minutes’ walk from the SW Coast Path, those who enjoy scenic strolls will love how easy it is to Hawkes Point where the views over the bay are stunning. Porthkidney Sands lies close by and offers the wild tranquility and beauty of a mile-long beach which is backed by sand dunes. Of course, Carbis Bay Beach is the place to be if you’re into watersports and sunbathing. With its turquoise water, fine white sand and beach-based surf centre it’s an idyllic place for days out. You’ll also discover a clutch of first-class restaurants right by the sea like Adam Handling’s Ugly Butterfly, or for a shopping or culture fix as well as more dining options, the iconic town of St Ives is easily reached by car or train.

Security Deposit: We ask our guests for a £200 good housekeeping bond, which is pre-authorised against your card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved (held as a pending transaction) and then released afterwards if there is no damage or additional cleaning. This will be held on the card on file 7 days prior to your arrival.
Pets: 1 pet allowed, £25 per pet per week, in line with our house rules we do ask that pets are not left alone in the property, do not use the furniture or go in the upstairs/bedroom areas

Linen & Towels: Bed linen is provided for your stay, however, if you require use of the travel cot you will need to bring your own cot linen. Mermaid cottage is in a beautiful location with lovely sea views, however, a tumble dryer is needed as drying laundry was a challenge. (We had 4 children with us). The TV was also a problem as the signal was none existent which required us to stream. There were no instructions in the cottage concerning how to use the TV or basic information, for example if we needed to put the bins out. Etc. Overall we did have an enjoyable stay.

Lovely 9 night stay in Mermaid Cottage, Carbis Bay. Was an ideal location about half a mile walk from Carbis Bay Beach in one direction and Porthkidney Sands beach in the other direction. Approx 2 miles walk into St Ives. House was lovely and clean and spacious. It was just the two of us plus our little dog so we did have the luxury of space but it does sleep 6 comfortably, 8 at a squeeze. Lovely seaside decor in the modern house, very comfortable beds and it was very peaceful. It has an enclosed back garden which was ideal for safety for our little dog (though the grass was a bit long for our tiny sausage dog - though may be hard to fit in gardener when back to back guests in peak season!) The drive has space for one medium sized car though the street is quite narrow to get down with cars parking in the available street parking spaces if they only have a small drive and have more than one car with them. Great communications and service from Luxury Coastal. Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at Mermaid Cottage in October and were blessed with lovely weather. This meant we could take advantage of all the places we wanted to visit that were either in walking distance, a short train ride or a drive within 1 hour. The South West Coastal path is a few minutes walk from the door step and the train station a 10 minute walk and only a 4 minutes ride to St Ives. The house is a warm and welcoming home, with a lovely kitchen with a large table perfect for families to share meals and a sheltered and private garden. The living room has a big comfy sofa and the bedrooms have insanely comfortable beds. The front bedroom has a view of the sea, beaches and coastline. It really was a lovely home to spend our Cornwall break and we wouldn't hesitate in returning for another holiday. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
