Set on Headland Road and equipped to offer guests with everything they could need to be completely comfortable during their stay, Mermaid Cottage includes a kitchen/dining area with a lovely big table for converging round after a day spent down at the beach. The cosy living room with its sofas and TV is great for chilling out in the evenings, and there's more than enough space for everyone to get comfy with a movie or their favourite show. Outside, the garden which lies to the back of the house, has an outdoor dining suite for fresh air feasts, and plenty of grass for a game of boule or badminton. There’s also a delightful balcony off one of the bedrooms which has sea views and is perfect for a bit of relaxation in the sunshine, cup of coffee or glass of fizz in hand.

The home’s four bedrooms lie upstairs on the first floor and include two super kings (with the option of converting to twins), a bunk room which is ideally suited to children, and a room with a double sofa bed which accesses the balcony. There’s also a family bathroom on this floor with bath and shower over, while a separate cloakroom can be found off the hall on the ground floor.

Just 3 minutes’ walk from the SW Coast Path, those who enjoy scenic strolls will love how easy it is to Hawkes Point where the views over the bay are stunning. Porthkidney Sands lies close by and offers the wild tranquility and beauty of a mile-long beach which is backed by sand dunes. Of course, Carbis Bay Beach is the place to be if you’re into watersports and sunbathing. With its turquoise water, fine white sand and beach-based surf centre it’s an idyllic place for days out. You’ll also discover a clutch of first-class restaurants right by the sea, and for a shopping or culture fix as well as more dining options, the iconic town of St Ives is easily reached by car or train.

Good Housekeeping Bond or Accidental Damage Waiver
We ask our guests for a £200 Good Housekeeping Bond, pre-authorised against your credit card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved and then released afterward if there is no damage. We will contact you nearer the time of your arrival to arrange this. 
Alternatively, a one-off, nonrefundable Accidental Damage Waiver of £30 can be added to your booking to replace the Good Housekeeping Bond and can be added as an extra when processing your booking.
Pets: 1 pet allowed, £40 per pet per week, in line with our house rules we do ask that pets are not left alone in the property, do not use the furniture or go in the upstairs/bedroom areas

Linen & Towels: Bed linen is provided for your stay, however, if you require use of the travel cot you will need to bring your own cot linen. Wi-Fi: This property offers free Wi-Fi for guests, however, we cannot guarantee the speed and connectivity. Therefore, if you are planning to work during your holiday, we recommend bringing a wifi dongle.

Upstairs on the first floor and furnished with a sofa which converts to a double bed, and a tall chest of drawers. This room has access out to the furnished balcony which has sea views over St Ives Bay

A lovely garden lies to the back of the property and is secure for guests with dogs. A paved patio area is furnished with an outdoor dining set and a patio heater and has an electric awning which is remote controlled.

Please note that the garden has sharp bamboo in areas, please be vigilant with pets and children whilst outside.
Parking
This property has space for one car on the driveway, with on-street parking available in the area on a first come first served basis.
The small long stay car park at Carbis Bay train station is a 6 minute walk away and has a few spaces available on a first come first served basis
Alternatively the main car park at Porthrepta long stay car park is a 10 minute walk and has spaces available on a first come first served basis

A good place for a winter break

We spent an enjoyable week in Mermaid Cottage. The house was warm, even though we had horizontal hail on a couple of days. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. It is also very well located for walking and access by train to St. Ives - lots to see and do! However, there are a number of things to note. There is no door from the hall into the kitchen / dining room, so it is impossible to shut a dog in that room at night. There is a stair gate but that is broken. Luckily, our dog is trained not to go upstairs, but there was nothing physical to stop it doing so. Also, the house description shows a rug in the living room which is no longer in the house. Im sure that a rug would make the room a little cosier. There is only one sofa, although the description states two sofas. Finally, we were expecting Freeview on the televisions as in the house description, but, after checking with the housekeeper, it doesnt work. We could only watch on iplayer etc and our own Netflix subscription. All these issues could be easily resolved and the house would be even better!

A spacious 4 bedroomed holiday home in an excellent location. Close to the beach and you can get the train to St Ives very close by. The kitchen was well equipped and living room relaxing. The garden wasnt suitable for children and needs some TLC.

A very enjoyable Easter break in a lovely home

We absolutely loved staying in Mermaid Cottage. The house was absolutely spotless including the fridge, dishwasher etc... I could see that the cleaner had been meticulous. The location is perfect with just a few minutes stroll from Carbis bay beach in one direction and Porthkidney beach in the other. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and the lounge was very comfortable and relaxing. The beds were really comfortable and the whole cottage had really good storage. We will definitely look to stay again in the future.

Mermaid cottage is in a beautiful location with lovely sea views, however, a tumble dryer is needed as drying laundry was a challenge. (We had 4 children with us). The TV was also a problem as the signal was none existent which required us to stream. There were no instructions in the cottage concerning how to use the TV or basic information, for example if we needed to put the bins out. Etc. Overall we did have an enjoyable stay.

Ideal location in Carbis Bay!

Lovely 9 night stay in Mermaid Cottage, Carbis Bay. Was an ideal location about half a mile walk from Carbis Bay Beach in one direction and Porthkidney Sands beach in the other direction. Approx 2 miles walk into St Ives. House was lovely and clean and spacious. It was just the two of us plus our little dog so we did have the luxury of space but it does sleep 6 comfortably, 8 at a squeeze. Lovely seaside decor in the modern house, very comfortable beds and it was very peaceful. It has an enclosed back garden which was ideal for safety for our little dog (though the grass was a bit long for our tiny sausage dog - though may be hard to fit in gardener when back to back guests in peak season!) The drive has space for one medium sized car though the street is quite narrow to get down with cars parking in the available street parking spaces if they only have a small drive and have more than one car with them. Great communications and service from Luxury Coastal. Would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful Home perfect location

We stayed at Mermaid Cottage in October and were blessed with lovely weather. This meant we could take advantage of all the places we wanted to visit that were either in walking distance, a short train ride or a drive within 1 hour. The South West Coastal path is a few minutes walk from the door step and the train station a 10 minute walk and only a 4 minutes ride to St Ives. The house is a warm and welcoming home, with a lovely kitchen with a large table perfect for families to share meals and a sheltered and private garden. The living room has a big comfy sofa and the bedrooms have insanely comfortable beds. The front bedroom has a view of the sea, beaches and coastline. It really was a lovely home to spend our Cornwall break and we wouldn't hesitate in returning for another holiday. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Mermaid Cottage was a lovely home - ideal for our group of ladies and so close to the beach (we spent every day on the beach) Versatile as all rooms bar the sofa bed could be spilt into singles. Great size kitchen and dining table meant we had fun evening meals together. Would recommend for.a by group of friends or a family. Great communication and def would book.again.
