This gorgeous apartment resting right above Brixham Harbour, forms part of our luxury Maritime Suites collection. The perfect place for families to enjoy magical holidays on Devon’s south coast, it’s just a stroll from the area’s beaches, restaurants and walking routes, and has all the space and comfort you could ask for.

With a superb layout and gorgeous interior design, Mayflower occupies most of the building’s ground floor and is the largest of the Maritime Suites. It has its own front entrance and has been refurbished to an impeccable standard. The property boasts a plush master bedroom and large living area with sofa bed and TV. There’s also a dining area where meals can be enjoyed together, so for guests looking for a luxury holiday property where they can relax and unwind after glorious days spent exploring on the coast, it doesn’t get much better.

As with all the other suites within the collection, Mayflower’s fittings and features are top notch. The bathroom is positively palatial and includes a spacious walk-in shower, his and hers basins and demisting mirror. To the front of the apartment behind half-height plantation shutters, a gorgeous light-filled room offers guests a kitchen area. Though there isn’t a cooker, it’s equipped with an air-fryer, microwave, kettle, toaster and pod coffee machine so you can still whip up anything from continental breakfasts to tapas-style lunches and dinners.

Within metres of the harbour and seafront, The Maritime Suites really couldn’t be better positioned. All of Brixham’s fantastic eateries and independent shops lie within a short stroll of its front door, while beaches like Breakwater, Fishcombe Cove, Churston Cove and Broadsands are also within very easy reach. Nearby, the River Dart meanders between Kingswear and Dartmouth, offering stunning coastal walks and incredibly beautiful river views. Gateway to the South Hams, its pretty villages and wild beaches offer plenty to do while staying in the area including water sports, sailing, cycling and wild swimming.

The Bedroom

A spacious room that’s open plan with the lounge. The beautiful furnishings and décor nod to Brixham’s nautical heritage. The bed is a sumptuous king size with deep, luxurious mattress and high-quality cotton linens. Two bedside cabinets sit either side, with wall lamps, a built-in wardrobe, mirror and chest of drawers.

Lounge

A beautifully light and airy room with a big bay window and half-height plantation shutters. A wood-effect electric fireplace creates the focal point of the area. Furnished with a large three-seater sofa which converts to a double bed, a matching armchair and ottoman, and a wall-mounted Smart flat screen TV

Open plan with the living area, this lovely space sits in an alcove and is furnished with a table and seating beneath a large bay window

Stunning design with a contemporary feel featuring tiled flooring, twin basins, a pair of electric lit mirrors, large walk-in shower cubicle, shaver point, heated towel rail and WC
Shared Facilities
You will find a shared utility room on the first floor of the building (accessed round the back of the building up Queens steps). Here there’s a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board

Whilst there is no designated parking for the suite, there are plenty of options in the surrounding areas. There is unrestricted parking in residential roads within a 10 minute walk, plus many car parks too.

Spacious Apartment but

The pros of the apartment was the very central position of the property, easily walking distance to all the restaurants and bars within beautiful Brixham and to the ferry which is so convenient to visit Torquay and Dartmouth without using the car. The fact it had a kitchen area so you could use the microwave and air fryer to prepare small meals was a good addition and it had a good fridge. I stayed for a week so didnt want to eat out every night so this kitchenette space served us very well. The cons which would probably put me off of returning were The front door to the apartment is right on the main road on a slight bend. You have cars and lorries due to the width of the road, literally inches from the front of the property manoeuvering so other cars can get past. So you do have quite a bit of traffic noise. The apartment doesnt come with parking, which is a dreadful shame because it wouldnt cost much to supply a permit to the Breakwater car park or central car park. There is nowhere to pull the car in to unload so you do have a seven minute walk approximately with your cases and bags to get to the apartment. If you try to pull in on the road outside the apartment you block the traffic. The little parking base just up the road or restricted two hours between 8 and 6 pm so although I managed to park there a couple of evenings you had to get up in the morning and move the car to avoid getting a ticket. They description states that theres plenty of unrestricted parking in nearbt residential streets. that in fact isnt true there is not lots of unrestricted parking at all and some of those streets are up very steep hills so if you are slightly unsteady on your feet, it would not be suitable. From the harbour you either have to walk up King Street, which is uphill or you can walk up steps but again not easy for those who may have mobility issues. I found the apartment not to be stocked too well. There were only two mugs. Some of the crockery wasnt particularly clean. No toilet brush was available there is no hanging space for clothing apart from in a cupboard that houses the ironing board and spare duvets and there were only a few coathangers so be warned take coat hangers with you. The people upstairs were very noisy. It was like a herd of elephants walking across the floor. Not the apartments fault but there is noise from above. For me, the bedroom not being separate from the rest of the living space wasnt great when youre staying there for a week its a shame it isnt partitioned off. This property is marketed as being suitable for two adults and two children, but I do not think it is suitable for two girls travelling together who dont share a bed. With a sofa bed down the whole living space just becomes about two large beds.

Our stay at Mayflower, Maritime Suites was lovely. The apartment was very clean. The sofas and bed were really comfortable and it is well furnished. The shower room was excellent. One of the best weve had. The small kitchenette was reasonably equipped which were aware of before our visit.

Excellent location, super clean comfy bed, bathroom and shower amazing, fab decor and furnishings, kitchenette was perfect for snacks. Looking forward to returning, but will only stay there. Too many rubbish tatty accommodations but you don't know till you get there, re old photos etc. will never take the chance again when stopping in Brixton, it ruins your holiday.

The place was well presented and the workmanship was of a high standard But There were a few cleaning issues and also the bed settee when we opened it had all crumbs on it and a chocolate drop so with that you can see it was not checked between customers, and there were no sheets supplied, so I called Carly on the number I was given and she arrived within 30 minutes to rectified it, but I feel it should not have happened, also although the floor looked clean it wasnt , if you walked on the floor with only socks on they were dirty quite quickly I would have thought the floor would be washed after each customer stay. The fridge ice department had not been defrosted for weeks and there was so much ice in there it was unusable Having pointed out the negatives we did enjoy our stay in Brixham

Loved the location overlooking the harbour. Not good for people with mobility problems. Very clean and comfortable. Only 1 tiny grumble, the front door could do with wind proofing on the bottom as you can see day light coming in where the floor has dipped. The porch area is very cold and it is such a shame that when the heating is on it will be wasted in that area.

We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights. All I can say is that you wont be disappointed. This place is absolutely stunning and so cosy. So much thought has gone in to it apartment. Its honestly so well laid out with spectacular views of the harbour. The apartment is very spacious and modern with all the amenities you would need. You go out of the door and across the road to where there is a bench for you to sit on to admire the beautiful views of the harbour or simply take the steps down. The town its self has plenty of restaurants, bars and shops on your doorstep. Everyone is so welcoming. We would love to come back to visit.

Lovely stay in Brixham

Weve stayed in Brixham a number of times now over the years. Enjoyed the hospitality of both hotels and B&Bs. The Maritime is a place weve visited when it was a public house. The current owners have made an excellent effort with the renovation and change of use to guest suites. The Mayflower suite is lovely, a spacious comfortable open plan apartment and a good sized bathroom which made our stay even more special. An added bonus is that its located just a stones throw away from the town and harbour. The Maritime is probably more suitable for couples than families and the price is very reasonable. We would not hesitate staying in the Maritime and we will probably be looking to visit again at some point next year.

I booked this for my mums shirt stay in Brixham and it was perfect. The suite offered a huge space with only a couple of steps to navigate to the bathroom. There is a bus stop a minutes walk away ok the flat which meant not having to walk up the hill or penny steps. My mum really enjoyed her stay and would stay there again. We had great customer service to help with our booking.

Had a fabulous stay at this apartment, everything was absolutely perfect. Downside no parking nearby and a bit confusing with the key codes for the access to Mayflower, it would have been simpler to only email the suites key code and put the other information in the rooms as access to this apartment is different to all the others at the Maritime Inn. Also more information on the kitchen facilities would have been appreciated, i.e. fridge, cutlery, crockery, kettle etc. No complaints though and I will book again.

Absolutely lovely apartment with good facilities and high standard of finish. Very quiet apartment despite there being suites above. Good basic kitchen facilities with air fryer, toaster, microwave, cutlery, kettle, plates and glasses etc. Very well situated with a few minutes walk down to the harbour and town. It would have been good to have received an information pack on arrival, as we weren't sure where to put rubbish from the bins or whether there would be any cleaning during our stay. No instructions on how to use the electric fire or heating in the apartment. Other than that I would thoroughly recommend the suite for a stay and would revisit some time in the future.

Brixham harbour literally outside the front door, beautiful suite, comfortable & tastefully decorated. Everything we needed, including the kitchen sink! Cant fault a single thing about our stay. If we could have, we would have stayed forever. Seriously considering moving to Brixham after our first ever stay there. 10/10.
