This luxury lodge is airy, open plan and modern, with a private hot tub and en-suite master bedroom.

One of a small collection, this beautiful home is an idyllic escape for couples and their dogs with a tastefully styled interior and fabulous outside space. Open plan, bright and fully equipped, the living area opens out to a furnished deck via glass patio doors allowing you to extend the inside of the lodge out so for BBQ weather it’s perfect. You’ll also find a private hot tub to the side along with an outdoor shower for rinsing off under so when you return home from a sandy walk down on Saunton, both you can easily de-sand.

Guests with their dogs in tow can savour long walks on one of Devon’s best beaches at the fabulous Saunton Sands, an idyllic 3-mile stretch of stunning golden sand, backed by the UNESCO-protected Braunton Burrows Biosphere Reserve before grabbing a bite to eat at the fabulous dog-friendly Beachside Grill. Nearby, the South West Coast Path picks up part of the Tarka Trail along the estuary of the River Taw (part of North Devon’s Biosphere Reserve) which is an easy level route for walkers, passing through marshland and nature reserves that teem with wildlife before ending in the village of Instow.

Croftner is the first lodge on the right as you enter the orchard, Middle Thorne is the middle lodge of the three on the right side of the site, and Hayditch is at the top of the orchard, last on the right side.

Security Deposit: We ask our guests for a £50 good housekeeping bond, which is pre-authorised against your card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved (will show as a pending transaction in your account) and then released afterwards if there is no claim. This is held on the card on file 7 days prior to your arrival.
Pets: 2 pets allowed, £25 per pet per week, in line with our house rules we do ask that pets are not left alone in the property, do not use the furniture or go in the bedroom areas.

Linen & Towels: Bed linen is provided for your stay, however, if you require use of the travel cot you will need to bring your own cot linen. Each guest will be supplied with one hand towel and one bath towel for their stay. (if your holiday is longer than 10 days, please contact the Luxury Coastal team to discuss a mid-stay linen change)
Wi-Fi: This property offers free Wi-Fi for guests, however, we cannot guarantee the speed and connectivity. Therefore, if you are planning to work during your holiday, we recommend bringing a wifi dongle.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Great Field Lodges. The lodges are clean, tidy and have all the modern appliances included which make a self catering break so much easier. The location is very quiet plus the garden is nicely secluded and was bigger than we had been expecting, which our dog loved ! We are looking forward to booking again in the coming year

Time at Middle Thorne

Middle Thorne was perfect for our needs. A secluded location but not out of the way being on the end of the village, with amenities within walking distance. Property had a secure, sizeable garden for our dog. Hot tub available for use. Bed was comfortable. En-suite facilities were excellent. Struggling to find a negative point with Middle Thorne. Would highly recommend.

Had the time of or lives, in and out of the hot tub at this beautiful lodge.The complete stay was so relaxing in a beautiful well equiped and maintained building. building. Great location to be near the coastal walks and beaches, with good shops close by. We would thoughraly recommend it to anyone.

Excellent location

Had an amazing time. Welcome fizz was great. Perfect to get straight in the hottub with. Being only 5 mins drive from the beach was perfect for the early morning dog walks. The beach was empty most days and parking is free til 8am. The premier store newsagents and convenience store on the housing estate nearby is handy as well as local Braunton shops just a small drive away. Had takeaway from Siam which was good and ready when ordered for collection. Would happily recommend a stay with or without the dog .

2nd Stay- really enjoyed...

This was our second stay at Middle Thorne. Its a perfect couples retreat, stylish, comfortable and pet friendly. Peaceful farm setting but close to all the local beaches and resorts. These lodges are a credit to the owners and Sarah does a fantastic job with the lodge being spotless and welcoming with all the bits you need whilst away- even a bottle of bubbly. Lovely Weekend Retreat

This property does what it says on the tin. Very clean, modern, well- equipped and dog friendly lodge for a cosy break for 2 (+1 pooch). Cosy open plan kitchen/ lounge with little dining table. Super comfortable bed and great shower. Quiet enclosed garden space, good deck with hot tub tucked away in the corner. Nice birdsong! Fantastic position only 5 min drive from Saunton Sands and Braunton Burrows. Nice touches were the Nespresso machine and Prosecco in the fridge with a fee doggy bags and biscuits for all 3 guests. Aim to come back soon.

Luxurious lodges

The lodges are ideally located within 5 minutes of Saunton Sands, 10 minutes away from Croyde and 15 minutes from the amazing beaches at Woolacombe. The lodge was spotless and had everything you could possibly need for a break - the bottle of Prosecco and shortbread biscuits were a lovely touch. The heating was brilliant and the bathroom felt luxurious. We made good use of the hot tub and Im sure the decking area and garden would be lovely in the summer. Braunton itself has a good variety of restaurants and shops and we would definitely recommend Squires and SQ. This is our second stay at Great Field Lodges and we will definitely return soon.

Booked as a short break for my husband and I and our puppy. Arrived and the property surpassed the photos. Such a lovely warm atmosphere, everything is perfect and well done and kitted out. The garden was very well secured so we felt happy to let our pup roam around. Very clean. The support we had from Our host was absolutely amazing. Can't fault her at all. She went above and beyond to help us and was so friendly when we arrived a day early (our fault entirely)!! Was allowed in a little earlier the next day due to that which was very much appreciated. The bed was so comfortable and like a dream, as was the hot tub. Only gripe was not having a second set of towels for the hot tub and had to use the bathing ones. Otherwise that's being pedantic really if I had to give a negative.

Really enjoyed our stay, lovely lodge, spotlessly clean, spacious and well thought out -a real credit to the owner. The lodge had everything you needed. Our Beagle loved the large enclosed garden. We spent a lot of time on the large decked area in the sunshine and evenings in the hot tub. Close to all the beaches of Saunton, Croyde, Woolacombe and Instow. Close to Braunton with its shops and pubs Thoroughly recommend for a relaxing break Thankyou again for a great stay

Very clean, warm location with several appliances available to meet needs for cooking, or otherwise. Bed was brilliant and comfy, hot tub provided an amazing place to wind down at the end of a busy day. Would recommend and would definitely look to book again, location was brilliant.

Stunning accommodation in an ideal location for trips to neighbouring villages. Absolutely spotless inside. A nice large enclosed garden for the dog to run around in. Outside shower next to the hot tub. Very peaceful and private. Would recommend and will definately be back. Thank you for a lovely week away.

Great property, clean and short walk into Braunton town/ easy drive to beach Beautiful decking and hot tub very dog friendly The sofa was incredibly uncomfortable. The bathroom was tiled incorrectly so left a lot of standing water in the shower High Price for a weekend use compared to similar style places we have stayed in

Myself and my partner had an excellent time at Middle Thorne. Its sparkling clean with all the amenities you could need. The host information was very clear and easy to contact if you needed anything. The area is so quiet and private, perfect for relaxing with your book on a sun lounger. The hot tub is warm all the time and theres even an outdoor warm shower. To top it off, we were gifted a bottle of Prosecco! Overall Id highly recommend.

lovely holiday stay

beautiful lodge with all the amenities you would want from a holiday stay. We were very grateful for providing milk, a bottle of bubbly and some biscuits for our stay. lodge was extremely clean and will definitely be looking to book again. Sarah was extremely helpful and allowed us to check in early and was helpful throughout with any questions we had. The lodges location was also very good with a short journey to Saunton sands beach, and just around the headland to Croyde.

Lovely stay

Had a very pleasant stay, lodge was very clean and tidy , owners provided lovely welcome gifts for us which was a lovely touch. The garden space is perfect for dogs and very secure , you're left to enjoy your holiday and are offered help /can ask for help when you need it. Within a short driving distance for everything you need. Would definitely return here and recommend to others.

A beautiful luxury and well appointed lodge, a farm setting in stunning rural North Devon, a bubbling hot tub and starry skies made for a very pleasant stay.
