Well-known for its abundance of lakeside activities, Roadford Lake is an outdoor adventurer’s dream destination, with cycle paths, walking routes and water-based activities galore, so if you’d like to get active during your stay, you can do so to your heart’s content. Just 100m from the lake’s edge, the setting is a dreamy one, and is perfect as a ‘back to nature’ weekend escape or for extended holidays with family and friends. Inside you’ll discover a space that’s as comfortable as it is good-looking.

There’s an open plan living / entertainment area with large dining table and fully-fitted kitchen, as well as big, comfy sofas and a flat screen TV. Two fabulous bedrooms (both of which have sliding doors to the terrace), invite deeply comfortable nights of rest, while the two modern en-suite bathrooms mean plenty of space for four guests.The whole living area opens out on to the private terrace where an outdoor dining suite and a spacious hot tub invite fresh-air feasts, BBQ’s and relaxing soaks in the sunshine, and when the sun sets you can cosy up in front of the 65 inch Skyglass TV for a night of popcorn and movies.

With Roadford Lake being just a short stroll away there is plenty to do right on your doorstep with water sports, a lakeside walk or a cream tea in the cafe all within easy reach. And for those guests travelling with their four-legged companions in tow, there are many walks to enjoy together with excellent viewing points dotted around the waters’ edge where you'll be able to relax and soak up the peaceful atmosphere.

Good Housekeeping Bond or Accidental Damage Waiver
We ask our guests for a £150 Good Housekeeping Bond, pre-authorised against your credit card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved and then released afterward if there is no damage. We will contact you nearer the time of your arrival to arrange this. 
Alternatively, a one-off, nonrefundable Accidental Damage Waiver of £30 can be added to your booking to replace the Good Housekeeping Bond and can be added as an extra when processing your booking.
Pets: 2 pets allowed (no cats), £40 per pet per week, in line with our house rules we do ask that pets are not left alone in the property, do not use the furniture or go in the upstairs/bedroom areas

Type of heating: Central heating, for complete comfort during the hotter months, this lodge benefits from air-conditioning in its bedrooms.
Linen & Towels: Bed linen is provided for your stay, however, if you require use of the travel cot you will need to bring your own cot linen. Each guest will be supplied with one hand towel and one bath towel for their stay. (if your holiday is longer than 10 days, please contact the Luxury Coastal team to discuss a mid-stay linen change)
Wi-Fi: This property offers free Wi-Fi for guests, however, we cannot guarantee the speed and connectivity. Therefore, if you are planning to work during your holiday, we recommend bringing a wifi dongle.
Hot Tub: Electric. Maintenance is carried out daily however, in the interest of guest privacy and for minimal disruption, this may occur in the very early hours of the morning,
Smoking: All of our properties are non-smoking and we ask that any party member who smokes, do so off the premises.
Property surroundings: The resort caters for couples and families looking for a relaxing holiday in the Devon lakeside setting. It’s also perfect for gatherings making the most of the on lake activities that are available on Roadford Lake.
Additional Extras: Hot tub robe and extra large towel available to hire for £9 per person

There are a limited number of additional visitor parking spaces outside reception, on a first come first serve basis

EV Charger Point
The site has two EV charging points for guest use, situated along from reception in two designated parking spaces. The EV charging point is by MONTA. Guests will need to download the free MONTA app to make payment. We kindly ask that once your vehicle is charged, that you park in your lodge car parking space to ensure the EV spaces are free for other guests on the site.
If both chargers are unavailable, we recommend using the fast-charging station in Lifton, around a 10-minute drive away.

4 Night stay at Hawthorne Lodge

My wife and I have just enjoyed a four night stay at Hawthorne Lodge at Roadford Lake. The lodge was scrupulously clean and in first class condition. Everything was just as you would wish for. I must make special reference to the bed in the main bedroom which was the comfiest we have ever slept in. Also the air conditioning in the bedroom was a bonus even in September. The grounds on the whole estate were well maintained adding to the enjoyable experience. We would recommend Hawthorne Lodge without reservation and we are already considering a return visit some time next year.

Have stayed at Roadford 3 times now and this is the best lodge so far (others were lovely). Doors all situated to get to hot tub easily, spacious lodge with great fixtures and fittings . All you could want in a peaceful location. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone

Very nice property,clean and well equipped,nice and quiet for a short break ,only gripe is I wouldnt recommend using Devon hampers,I ordered a hamper to be delivered as a surprise for my wife on the day off arrival and it turned up 2 days later,these companys should deliver themselves and not use DPD.

We were there when temperature was very hot. Only minor criticism was the weight of duvet on double bed. .needed a summer weight option. Blinds on skylight would have helped keep temperature down Fans and night ac in bedroom excellent. All excellent - minor criticism only due to heat . One last thing a site map would be useful showing access to woods etc. Would thoroughly recommend.

Lovely quiet stay

2nd time visitors to this lodge. In a very quiet area but not far from lots of lovely destinations. We travelled to Plymouth, Bude and Port Isaac and all of them within an hours travel. Lodge is beautifully decorated and kitted out with all the essentials you might need. Lots of lovely touches like blankets, games and of course the bath robes that you need to pay extra for. The Hot tub was the main attraction for us and we did lots of star gazing each night. The hot tub is right outside the main bedroom so if you are a light sleeper like I am, take some earplugs! If you go out venturing make sure to keep to the main roads as our satnav took us down some heart stopping country lanes, especially when you meet a tractor coming towards you on a single lane road! The Sky stream can be temperamental as it relies on WiFi but we have this at home so no surprise to us. Overall, a really lovely lodge, in a beautiful area and well managed .

This was our second time staying at Hawthorne and it was once again lovely. All the amenities youd need and such a homely feel. My only critique is that you cannot alter the heating temp or when it comes on. Despite that all was great. Will likely return for a third time :)

Lovely peaceful place to stay

Generally the lodge was spotless and a lovely setup - the only issue was the bed. The top pillows smelt strongly of sweat, which is not particularly welcoming after a long day travelling. Luckily there were extra pillows to swap with but it left a negative impression and felt like I was staying at someone's house rather than a guest lodge with clean furnishings. The bed was also very small, would be better with a king size. The location was perfect, absolutely beautiful location with the lake just minutes away by foot and the cafe food was lovely (highly recommend trying the ice cream!) The amenities at the lodge were great, there was plenty of room for everything and we enjoyed a relaxing week with our two cocker spaniels.

The site is very quiet, if you allow for the pheasants at 5.20am tapping on the windows looking at themselves. Everything about the lodge was quality but needs a good butter spreading knife. One or two little things need fixing, like the outdoors umbrella that came crashing down when not in the up position on a day with gusty wind. Just needed a bolt not an old Allen key put in the hole. These things apart the lodge was one of the best we had stayed in. TV in bedroom did not work , would not search and store channels. The on site cafe/restaurant closes at 4pm which is a bit early . Also the access to the cafe needs sorting as disabled people could not use a mobility scooter from the site . Overall for what we paid , it was just about a fair price but if much more had been unusable and having no one manning the reception at all during the day when there should have been someone there I found odd and things could have been resolved easier. Did report things via phone number as advised and told someone would come and sort but never appeared ,again a bit of a red flag to me.

We loved Hawthorn Lodge, it had everything we needed for a totally relaxing and chilled long weekend break. The location was excellent and our dog loved her walks around the lake. We even had an evening visit from a very handsome male pheasant who tapped on the front door, each evening!

we had a lovely stay , lovely vacation the lodge was great , the only thing i would suggest is it could do with more cooking equipment , pots and pans dishes etc but otherwise very very good .

Lodge is excellent, everything you could wish for and more. Air Conditioning in bedrooms was a godsend in the hot weather and heat we experienced while there. Outside area and patio furniture top notch and really comfy. Lodge was spotlessly clean and very spacious, could not fault anything would highly recommend

We went away with parents for a belated Christmas celebration and the lodge provided all the comfort and luxuries promised and is a very impressive place to stay. Great for four adults as the bedrooms were separated in this lodge. Plenty of space and gorgeous decor.
