Overview

Built in the 16th Century by Elizabethan textile manufacturer William Starre, this beautiful property is the self-contained annex at Starre House ( the oldest house in Beer) and now forms an elegantly furnished and contemporary seaside retreat.

Satiny oak floors, original trusses and exposed stone walls grace its gorgeous interior, and guests will on arrival, discover an intimate living room as well as a perfectly formed kitchen with all that’s needed to rustle up delicious dinners for two. The spacious master bedroom has a sumptuous king size with deep pillows and crisp linen for winding down in complete comfort after a day spent exploring the marvelous surrounding coastline, and a large, luxurious cast iron bath within the room, dollops on the romance.

Resting in the beautifully landscaped grounds of Starre House, the setting is as tranquil as it is picturesque, and the cottage makes the most of its garden views from its own fabulous terrace. On warm days, guests can fling open the French doors and enjoy fresh air dining, sunbathing with a good book, or relaxing with a glass of bubbly as the sun sets over the village.

Perfectly positioned just 400 metres from the beach, Beer’s pebble shore and clear water is within easy walking distance which means sea swims and beach walks can be savoured at any time of the day. The village itself is just a few minutes’ walk from the front door and here you’ll find a terrific pub, The Anchor Inn, Beer Village Store where you can pick up fresh produce, gift and clothing shops, and a gallery. Nearby, the lovely towns of Lyme Regis, Seaton and Sidmouth offer ample choice for dining out, as well as walking routes along the coast path, fossil finding expeditions and shopping sprees.
