Torcross is a beautiful little coastal village in the South Hams, best known for its unique position between Slapton Ley and the three-mile-long shingle beach overlooking Start Bay.

Arranged over three floors, this holiday home has ample space for four guests. There are two lovely bedrooms, two bathrooms (one of which is an en suite), a nicely kitted-out kitchen, and a spacious top floor living room with a dining area. Next to the front door there’s a small, raised terrace where guests can enjoy a morning coffee, and a lower terrace with outdoor furniture, if you fancy relaxing in the sunshine before going out to explore.

The well-known Start Bay Inn is a two-minute amble along the seafront, so if you fancy good wholesome food within a traditional coastal pub setting, this is the place. Nearby, Stokely Farm Shop serves fantastic breakfasts as well as wood-fired pizzas, home-made pies, seafood dishes and Sunday roast. Their Deli is also a great way to stock up on a few locally produced treats to pop into the fridge at your apartment.

17 At The Beach is paws-friendly, which is terrific news for holidaymakers and their pets. Slapton Sands allows dogs all year round, while Slapton Ley makes for a scenic excursion with pups in tow. Of course, there’s also plenty of coast path to explore too, as well as the nearby towns of Dartmouth and Kingsbridge.

We ask our guests for a £100 Good Housekeeping Bond, pre-authorised against your credit card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved and then released afterward if there is no damage. We will contact you nearer the time of your arrival to arrange this. 
Alternatively, a one-off, nonrefundable Accidental Damage Waiver of £30 can be added to your booking to replace the Good Housekeeping Bond and can be added as an extra when processing your booking.
Pets: 2 pets allowed, £40 per pet per week, in line with our house rules we do ask that pets are not left alone in the property, do not use the furniture or go in the upstairs/bedroom areas

Linen & Towels: Bed linen is provided for your stay, however, if you require use of the travel cot you will need to bring your own cot linen. Wi-Fi: This property offers free Wi-Fi for guests. In a recent speed test, the download speed was recorded at 33.7mbps and the upload speed 8.61mbps, as with all Wi-Fi networks we are unable to guarantee speed and connectivity.

Smoking: All of our properties are non-smoking and we ask that any party member who smokes, do so off the premises.

17 At The Beach is a three-level home. The entrance to the property is at ground floor level (via 8 steps) however there is a lower ground floor.

There is a small area outside the front door with a bistro set for two. Please note that this area is visible to passers by and is not private. A communal table and chairs are also available on the lower level

There is a maximum of one parking space in the development's car park just across from the building
There is additional parking at the front of At The Beach which is free on a first come first serve basis
There is also a long stay pay and display car park which is a few minutes walk away*

* Please note the Tank Car Park is closed from 7th September 2026 due to sea defence work

Please note that from 7th September 2026 until June 2027 the nearby public Tank Car Park will be out of action. You will still have an allocated parking space available in the At The Beach car park though.

From 7th September - 17th October, sea defence operations work will be set up in the Tank Car Park, some noise will be heard during this time.

From 17th October, sea defence work to Torcross Sea Front will commence. The work will be dependent on the tides, with the rocks being placed when the tide is low, in a 25 metre stretch from the sea wall out to sea. The rock armour defence will be built in 5 metre sections within the low tide windows starting at the southern end (where At The Beach apartments are located), working in parallel along the beach towards the northern end slipway.

Completion of works is estimated for Spring 2027 time. It will take approximately 4-5 months to complete the main rock armour, so the works will be ongoing over the autumn and winter months, with the area around the car park and slipway. We anticipate that this will likely create additional noise in the area. This apartment is located at the back of At The Beach development, as a result, you won't be able to see the works happening but the works will likely have some noise impact. For guest’s safety, CCTV cameras are located in the inner patio and on the outside of the At The Beach building

We were pleasantly surprised of the size of the property, we had everything we needed for our stay! Torcross is a lovely, quaint village, this was our first visit and not likely to be our last. Just one warning for future visitors, there is no shop, just a pub and cafe, both provided lovely food! Make sure to visit the nearby farm shop and garden centre for a pizza!

We stayed at no17 at the end of November (during some really severe storms). The property was easy to locate and ready for our arrival with keys on a lockbox. The property is really well located literally 2 mins from Torcross Beach, and the local pub. The car park is not attached and our property was up a few steps. The property is well presented and fully equipped with everything you could need. A nice welcome basket , tea coffee etc and lots of leaflets etc also provided. This is one of the most comfortable beds and duvet I have ever slept in. 2 bathrooms, one with jacuzzi bath, other with large shower. The property was warm and quiet even through the very bad storms We had a brief power cut which affected the boiler . I called the number provided and had immediate response, and the issue was resolved immediately. We will definitely be back

Superb holiday let; right on the beach as the pictures show and with absolutely everything youd need for a great break. Simple check in process, easy instructions for parking, responsive hosts. The Start Bay Inn and Jerry Can cafe were all great. The Queens Arms in Slapton is a good walk away and serves great food. Would highly recommend.

Not one for dogs or people who dont like stairs

Underwhelmed by the apartment which didnt suit our requirements. Would have been helpful to know that the lounge is on top floor, kitchen too small to eat in on ground floor and main bedroom in the basement. In order to eat you have to carry all your food plates etc along the hall, up the stairs and across the room to the table - same again when you want pudding and to take stuff downstairs again. Main bedroom also down steep stairs with windowless bathroom at the back. Not good for people who struggle with stairs or dogs. Also felt £50 charge for 2 small dogs for 3 nights was excessive. There is no private outdoor or green space - just a very small bistro table outside the front door which is a thoroughfare for the other flats in the building.
