Overview

One of three holiday cottages, this beautiful property which was once a farm building, has undergone a fabulous makeover and is now a lovely place for friends and family to gather together for a relaxing break near Devon’s Torbay and South Hams attractions.

The Granary sleeps six guests and though superbly spacious with high ceilings and large rooms, retains the rustic, cosy charm of a country cottage. Original stone walls and exposed roof trusses add character to the contemporary interior, and along with a terrific range of modern features and top notch furnishings, the home feels thoroughly inviting.

Downstairs there’s a big kitchen/ diner that comes fully equipped for preparing and sharing home cooked meals, along with a lovely separate living room where a log burner keeps things toasty during the cooler months. Upstairs are the cottage’s three bedrooms which include two spacious doubles (one of which is en-suite) as well as a perfectly formed twin, and a roomy family bathroom with a free-standing bathtub and walk-in shower. Sunny days can be spent outside in the front garden where guests can dine in the fresh air or enjoy long, lazy soaks in the private hot tub. There’s plenty of space for children to stretch their legs too, with a shared meadow available to all guests, as well as the Granary’s own lawn area.

Higher Yalberton Farm is perfectly placed to make the most of all that the area has to offer including lunch and bubbly at nearby Sandridge Barton wine estate or walks along the river in Stoke Gabriel. Totnes lies just 10 minutes’ drive away, along with Dartington Hall and Dartington Cider Barn. In the opposite direction, Torbay with its three coastal towns of Paignton, Torquay and Brixham, is within 15 minutes’ drive too so you’ll have plenty to see and do during your time here.

    Security Deposit: We ask our guests for a £250 good housekeeping bond, which is pre-authorised against your card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved (held as a pending transaction) and then released afterwards if there is no damage or additional cleaning. This will be held on the card on file 7 days prior to your arrival.
    Pets: No pets allowed.
    Number of steps: 1 step into the property and 1 flight of internal stairs.
    Type of heating: Gas central heating.
    Linen & Towels: Bed linen is provided for your stay, however, if you require use of the travel cot you will need to bring your own cot linen. Each guest will be supplied with one hand towel and one bath towel for their stay. Robes and grey towels are also provided for the hot tub. (If your holiday is longer than 10 days, please contact the Luxury Coastal team to discuss a mid-stay linen change)
    Travel cot and highchair: Upon request, if you require either of these for your stay please let the Luxury Coastal team know at the time of booking.
    Wi-Fi: This property offers free Wi-Fi for guests, however, we cannot guarantee the speed and connectivity. Therefore, if you are planning to work during your holiday, we recommend bringing a Wi-Fi dongle.
    Wood Burner: Wood for the first fire is provided, with further supplies available upon request.
    BBQ: Gas BBQ, the gas for this is supplied.
    Coffee Machine: Nespresso Vertuo machine, a selection of starter coffee pods are provided with further supplies available to purchase.
    Hot Tub: Electric hot tub.
    Smoking: All of our properties are non-smoking and we ask that any party member who smokes, do so off the premises.
    Decorated for Christmas: Christmas tree and wreath with lots of festive touches throughout.

    The contemporary kitchen has a fabulous gas range cooker with gas hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, kettle, toaster, microwave and Nespresso pod coffee machine. It also offers a range of cooking utensils, pots, pans, crockery, glassware and cutlery
    *A few starter coffee pods are provided
    The iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner are housed in the utility cupboard off the kitchen

    Dining Area
    The dining area can be found in the kitchen and is furnished with a table and seating for six

    All bedrooms are situated on the first floor

    This spacious room is furnished with a king size bed, mirror, side tables and reading lamps as well as a chest of drawers and hanging rail for clothes

    This beautiful room features a king size bed, bedside tables, bedside lamps, mirror, chest of drawers, a chair with footrest, and hanging rail for clothes

    Bedroom Three
    This light-filled room is furnished with two single beds, bedside tables, bedside lamps, mirror, a storage unit and wall-mounted clothes hooks

    Located on the first floor and featuring a free-standing bath, a shower with large rain head as well as a hand-held attachment, a wash hand basin, WC, heated towel rail, cabinet and mirror

    Located on the first floor this room is the en-suite to the master bedroom has a shower with rain head and hand-held attachment, a hand basin, WC, heated towel rail, cabinet and mirror

    Situated off the kitchen on the ground with a hand basin, WC and mirror

    To the front of the cottage is a large sunny garden with lawn, a paved walkway and a paved terrace. The terrace is furnished with an outdoor dining table and eight chairs, as well as a gas BBQ and an electric hot tub
    A picturesque meadow is available for all guests to enjoy, and here you’ll find wild flowers and lush vegetation, with shared fire pits so you can enjoy warm summer evenings either toasting marshmallows or sipping on hot chocolate as the sun sets
    *Gas for the BBQ is provided

    One allocated parking space plus EV charger space. Further free parking directly outside the property.
    EV charger is available for a charge of £40 per week. Please note, the EV charger is operated by a card which will be left in the property for your arrival. There is a £10 fee to replace this card if lost.

The Granary is most suited to families & couples looking for a tranquil holiday in the rural South Devon countryside setting. It’s not suitable for party groups, hen or stag do's. A Beautiful place to stay.

I stayed at The Granary for a weekend in September 2024. We were greeted with a warm welcome from Jen and Kev the property owners where Jen explained how to use the hot tub. The property is finished to the highest standard and is stunning. Jen and Kev have thought of everything. From a chalkboard telling you the weather and tide times, milk and biscuits on arrival, Netflix on the tv, to towels and gowns provided for the hot tub. The grounds are also stunning. I stayed with my Wife and another couple, all of us came away saying that it was the perfect stay and we would all stay again! Thank you Jen and Kev.
