In recent years, Newlyn has become one of West Cornwall’s most sought-after holiday destinations. True to its fishing port roots, the town feels authentically Cornish - blending the energy of a working harbour with a cool and creative edge. Wide sea views and fishing boats form the backdrop for independent shops, art galleries and restaurants, with the coast path connecting it to Penzance and Mousehole (both less than a mile away).

An original dwelling set right across from the harbour, this home embodies what makes holidays in Newlyn so special. The cottage has undergone a contemporary transformation, featuring an open-plan design on its ground floor. Here, the living room with its large comfortable sofas and Smart TV creates a stylish space for relaxation and entertainment. The space is shared with the home’s kitchen and dining area, offering guests all they need for preparing and sharing home-cooked meals.

Harbour Watch Cottage has three comfortable bedrooms with pared-back styling. A unique twin room with its sprung sleeping platform, inspired by Japanese culture, is located on the ground floor, and two double bedrooms, including an en-suite master bedroom with stunning sea views, are upstairs.
Additionally, there’s a snug with board games, TV and a sofa, as well as a family shower room and separate cloakroom.

The cottage’s location is second to none, with several terrific restaurants nearby. The popular Fisherman's Arms is right next door, offering a delicious menu of locally sourced dishes, while the Tolcarne Inn is a 10-ish minute walk from the front door. The seasonal Argoe in the harbour serves the freshest of fish caught and landed right alongside and is a 5-minute stroll.

Within a short drive are many of Cornwall’s best attractions, including Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens and the Scillonian Ferry in Penzance. Marazion and its iconic St Michael's Mount are a few minutes further along the coast, where a large sandy beach is the perfect spot for sunbathing and water sports. The charming village of Mousehole is a mile away, while Porthcurno with the Minnack Theatre and Pedn Vounder Beach are less than 35 minutes’ drive.

Alternatively, a one-off, non-refundable Accidental Damage Waiver of £30 can be added to your booking to replace the Good Housekeeping Bond and can be added as an extra when processing your booking.
Pets: 2 pets allowed. £40 per pet, per week, in line with our house rules we do ask that pets are not left alone in the property, do not use the furniture or go in the upstairs/bedroom areas

Smoking: All of our properties are non-smoking and we ask that any party member who smokes, do so off the premises
Additional Information: This cottage is a period dwelling and as such has a quirky feature. The floors in some of the bedrooms slope slightly from when they were was used to dry boat sails for the pilchard industry

This Japanese-inspired room includes twin mattresses (can be configured as a double upon request) on top of a sleeping platform constructed with authentic Japanese tatami mats. Tatami mats are traditionally made with a compressed rice straw core and a woven soft rush grass surface. These natural materials create a firm and breathable surface that helps regulate indoor humidity by absorbing and releasing moisture. Tatami mats are also naturally fragrant and contribute to a clean, minimalist interior aesthetic

Lovely cottage near Penzance

This cottage is a great location in Newlyn, very close to the beautiful Mousehole and right next to Penzance. Plus next door is a pub! The cottage itself is quite well equipped but there are definitely improvements that can be made. * There's no welcome book whatsoever. * There are zero coasters in the whole place * There's no small plates and no large bowls. * There's no microwave * The TV is enormous and close to sofa but only FHD so it's looks quite blocky. * The upstands in the kitchen are unfinished - labels still on it! The floors are uneven as you would expect in an old fishing cottage and watch your head on the stairs - I hit mine twice! The biggest issue is the shower which floods very easily - the advice to "switch off and let it drain for 10 minutes" is a nonsense. Note there is NO PARKING at the cottage, you can park on some roads for free reasonably nearby. Overall I feel the cottage is somewhat overpriced.
