Once a ship captain's residence, the cottage has been beautifully transformed into a stylish seaside retreat where days are spent drifting between beach, harbour and terrace. With the town's restaurants, galleries and sandy beaches just moments away, you could easily leave the car behind and immerse yourself fully in coastal life from the moment you arrive.

Oak floorboards flow throughout the property, while calming blue tones echo the surrounding coastline. Thoughtfully chosen artwork and colourful furnishings bring warmth and character, creating a chic beach house atmosphere that feels both elegant and relaxed. Yet despite the beautiful interiors, it is the sea views that command attention at every opportunity. A spacious dining room with long dining table and distinctive pink Philippe Starck-inspired chairs, has doors that open directly onto the terrace, making it easy to move between indoor and outdoor living. Here, guests can take in uninterrupted views across the beach and bay below. Whether basking in the sunshine with a morning coffee, enjoying post-beach drinks with family and friends, or settling in to watch the sun disappear beneath the horizon, this is a space designed to make the most of its remarkable setting.

Mermaid 3's upper floor bedrooms are all beautifully furnished with quality bedding and comfortable interiors, offering relaxing spaces to retreat to after a day spent on the beach or exploring St Ives. Contemporary bathrooms with sleek fittings and clean-lined design add to the space on offer.

Bamaluz Beach sits just below the property and, being quieter than some of the town's larger beaches, offers a more peaceful spot by the sea while welcoming dogs all year round. The Harbour is quite literally a stone's throw from the front door, while Fore Street's collection of restaurants, delis, bakeries and galleries can be reached within five minutes on foot. Neighbouring Porthgwidden Beach is just a three-minute stroll away, while Porthmeor Beach, its popular café and the Tate St Ives are around six minutes from the property.

Mermaids is a five-story home which can be booked as two individual holiday cottages, Mermaids accommodates parties of up to 10. Mermaids 3 is the upper half of the house and Mermaids 2 the lower portion. Both are kept completely private from each other when booked individually.

Security Deposit: We ask our guests for a £350 good housekeeping bond, which is pre-authorised against your card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved (held as a pending transaction) and then released afterwards if there is no damage or additional cleaning. This will be held on the card on file 7 days prior to your arrival.
Dogs: 1 dog allowed. £40 per dog, per week, in line with our house rules we do ask that dogs are not left alone in the property, do not use the furniture or go in the upstairs/bedroom areas

Type of heating: Electric heating
Linen & Towels: Bed linen is provided for your stay, however, if you require use of the travel cot you will need to bring your own cot linen. Each guest will be supplied with one hand towel and one bath towel for their stay. (If your holiday is longer than 10 days, please contact the Luxury Coastal team to discuss a mid-stay linen change)
Travel cot and highchair: Available upon request, please do let us know if you require these for your stay
Wi-Fi: This property provides free Wi-Fi for our guests. There may be occasional variations in speed and performance due to factors outside of our control. If you're planning to work during your stay, we suggest bringing a Wi-Fi dongle as a backup

Smoking: All of our properties are non-smoking and we ask that any party member who smokes, do so off the premises

A utility cupboard off the hallway houses a washer / dryer. An iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner are also provided

Dining Area
Also on the first floor and open to the living room, the dining area has a spacious table with ten chairs, making it ideal for gathering over breakfast before heading to the beach or sharing supper at the end of the day. Doors open to the furnished terrace where stunning sea views are displayed

Bedroom One
Sea view room located on the first floor, Bedroom One is furnished with a king size bed, bedside tables and lamps, a standalone wardrobe with additional storage drawers beneath the wardrobe. The room also has a Smart TV with Freeview and an en-suite bathroom

Bedroom Two
Downalong view room located on the first floor, Bedroom Two is furnished with a king size bed, bedside tables and lamps, a mirror, a standalone wardrobe with additional storage drawers beneath the wardrobe. The room also has an en-suite bathroom

Bedroom Three
Located on the second floor, Bedroom Three aspects with views over the Downalong, towards the harbour, and across the sea. This room is en-suite and is furnished with a king size bed, bedside tables and lamps, an integrated wardrobe, mirror and hairdryer. A bench seat positioned at the window, showcases the sea views

Outside
With one of the best positions in St Ives, the property has a large sea-facing balcony/terrace with plenty of space for outdoor dining and relaxing. Looking directly over Bamaluz Beach and the bay beyond, it catches the sun throughout the day and provides a wonderful place to sit with a morning coffee or evening drink. String lights overhead add a magical touch to evenings spent together, chatting and watching the sun set
Parking
Guests may pull up to offload their luggage outside the property before making their way to a private parking space at St Ives Rugby Club (a 7 minute drive or 30 minute walk from the property)
A bus service runs at peak times from the Rugby Club to town, or you may opt to pre book with a taxi service like A1 Cars who will take you back to the cottage
Please note Mermaids 3 offers one allocated Rugby Club parking space only. Guests may be able to personally arrange additional parking at the Rugby Club, or find parking in one of the nearby local long stay car parks like the Island Car Park which is a minute’s walk from the property. Please note that this car park is very popular so space availability is limited during the busier months
