The Barn in Lanhydrock is the kind of space you immediately settle into and feel at home. Once part of the Lanhydrock Estate this fantastic property is designed with comfort in mind and is packed with modern features that lend a real sense of luxury while still retaining a lot of its original character. The Barn is also pet friendly meaning guests with four-legged friends can bring them along on holiday to enjoy a break too, with many wonderful walks in the area offering them plenty of opportunity for adventure.

The Barn has something for everyone. Grown-ups can listen to music on the Sonos speaker and kids can play on the Xbox in their room to their hearts' content, although you'll probably want to spend most of your time outdoors either soaking away in the hot tub or exploring the beautiful surrounding either by bike or on foot. Being slap bang between the north and south coasts of Cornwall means, for those guests looking to spend time on the beach, there's no shortage of sandy stretches to enjoy, so don't forget to pack the buckets and spades or the boules set!

The nearby harbour town of Padstow promises some of the best fish and chips in Cornwall or a visit to historic Charlestown with its tall ships and old-worldy village atmosphere is a wonderful way while an afternoon away. Both are less than half an hour away, with an abundance of other Cornish highlights within easy reach. The Lanhyrock Estate is only five minutes from the front door so for an outdoor picnic, scenic garden strolls or scones and a pot of tea, there's no better place. For the truly adventurous, Cardinham Woods is about five miles away and offer visitors the chance to explore some amazing woodland walks, numerous bike trails and a bite to eat in its pet friendly woodland cafe.

Good Housekeeping Bond or Accidental Damage Waiver
We ask our guests for a £150 Good Housekeeping Bond, pre-authorised against your credit card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved and then released afterward if there is no damage. We will contact you nearer the time of your arrival to arrange this. 
Alternatively, a one-off, nonrefundable Accidental Damage Waiver of £30 can be added to your booking to replace the Good Housekeeping Bond and can be added as an extra when processing your booking
Pets: 2 pets allowed, £40 per pet per week, in line with our house rules we do ask that pets are not left alone in the property, do not use the furniture or go in the bedroom areas

Type of heating: Central Heating
Linen & Towels: Bed linen is provided for your stay, however, if you require use of the travel cot you will need to bring your own cot linen. Each guest will be supplied with one hand towel and one bath towel for their stay. (if your holiday is longer than 10 days, please contact the Luxury Coastal team to discuss a mid-stay linen change)
Wi-Fi: This property offers free Wi-Fi for guests, however, we cannot guarantee the speed and connectivity. Therefore, if you are planning to work during your holiday, we recommend bringing a wifi dongle.
Wood Burner: This property does have a wood burner, there is a starter pack of logs provided, if you require more you will need to purchase these.
Coffee Machine: Nespresso
Hot Tub: Woodfired Hot Tub, the wood for this is provided. If additional sacks of logs are required, they can be purchased locally within a 10 minute drive.
Smoking: All of our properties are non-smoking and we ask that any party member who smokes, do so off the premises.
Property surroundings: Near a main road so you may hear some traffic noise.

*The wood-fired hot tub takes about 3 to 4 hours to heat fully, so please allow plenty of time. Fill to the bottom line, keep a gentle fire going, and stir the water occasionally for even heating

A little piece of heaven

We stayed at The Barn recently with the family and our dog, we only stayed the weekend and I wish we had stayed longer. I've stayed in a lot of propeties for getaways but this one tops all of them. It was so comfortable .. EVERYWHERE! Right down to the wonderful big wooden table in the garden. The bedrooms were spacious and clean, the sitting area was perfect and everything in the property has been thought about! We found it a little difficult to find upon arrival and that's probably the only thing I would say that is slightly negative,.. and that's more negative about my navigation skills then the hosts. We didn't use the hot tub in the end as it said it takes a long time to heat up, but we did use the fire pit as the evening was drawing to a close and it was a perfect way to end the day. I would love to come and stay again, not even for Cornwall but for the sheer comfort of The Barn.

A lovely place to stay

We had a lovely week at The Barn. We were a little disappointed on arrival that there wasnt a welcome pack of basic foods, though there were a few general items (salt, pepper, flour, oil etc) in the cupboards from previous guests. Also, the radiators were warm and the property unbearably hot when we arrived! The hot tub was lovely once it was hot enough to be bearable - it could do with being fired up daily to maintain the heat but we didnt want to buy lots of wood. The outside area is lovely. As a family of 4 with 2 adult children we were happy with the accommodation. We loved exploring the area and the property is ideally placed for this (though I little spoiled by road noise). We enjoyed Lanhydrock house and gardens and exploring the coast. The Story of Emily is a fantastic place to visit; it tells the story of Emily Hobhouse in the most wonderful and immersive way (not suitable for young children). We used and appreciated the EV charger and that it is exclusively for The Barn. The kitchen is well equipped. We found the beds comfortable.

The barn itself is lovely and contains most of what you would need, although I didn't expect to have to wash cutlery and crockery where previous people had not bothered. There were no dishwasher tablets supplied and no welcome pack.... The beds weren't altogether comfortable and every door that opened or closed, did so with a clank! That's ok, but during the night it tended to wake the whole barn up. One shower was impossible to use due to not being able to maintain an ambient temperature. The sign above says hot water, but it's scorchingly hot! We did enjoy our stay but think it's overpriced for what we got. Housekeeping should include checking things are clean.

Good but Noisy

Lovely Barn, well presented and equipped. Ideal for gatherings with a lovely outside entertaining space. However the road noise from the A30 is very loud.. And constant.. The Hot Tub isnt fit for purpose. They say it takes 4hrs of logs to heat it But we spent £30 on 6 bags of logs and it still wasnt any where near hot after 6 hours.. So if you want the hot tub find somewhere else..

We had a fabulous stay, The only improvement for us would of been a hot outside tap to use the hot tub sooner, it took quite sometime to heat, Other than that we will definitely be back!

Christmas at The Barn

My family and I , 4 adults 2 children, enjoyed Christmas week in this quaint, comfortable and well equipped accommodation. It is a short 10 minute drive into Bodmin and less than 30 minutes to the south Cornwall coast. The owner had put up a nicely decorated large Christmas tree and laid the dining table with crackers and chocolates, adding to the atmosphere for my granddaughters.

Lovely, but with a few shortcomings

Had a perfectly fine stay, but I would like to point out the following four shortcomings, which all prevent me from being more positive: 1. The beds. Extremely bouncy mattresses. I hope your partner is the forgiving type. 2. The noise. Next to the main traffic artery in Cornwall. Not the quiet farm holiday you envision when you hear every single car pass. 3. The light pollution. During the entire stay (and due to a lack of proper curtains), a sensor in the driveway resulted in a large floodlight-type light atop a pole flicking on and off all night long. 4. The wi-fi. It exists, but extremely slow and definitely not 21st-century speeds. There are other smaller gripes, but these four (esecially 1 to 3) unfortunately prevented us from being properly rested and relaxed. Plenty of space, also for cars. Cleanliness fine. Hot tub not used (in November). I am usually much more positive, but this one just didnt do it for us, Im afraid.

Firstly, The Barn is not actually called The Barn, so we wasted half an hour looking for the place. Everything was perfectly adequate at the property. The master bedroom has 2 single beds made into a kingsize bed, a little uncomfortable if you end up in the middle of the bed. There is a light from a parking space at another property across the way, when this is triggered in the evening it lights up all of the bedrooms. You also need a degree to work the shower in the master bedroom, very confusing. The shower over the bath has a mind of its own constantly changing from hot to cold. We didn't use the hot tub, so cannot comment on this. The location is great for a base, there are supermarkets nearby, and it's ideal for driving to either coast. I would say you get what you pay for, the property wasn't amazing, but it was functional.

The barn was a perfect retreat for us. It was central for us to get to all the places in Cornwall we wanted to visit. The barn was spotless and was so cosy. Plenty of room.

Lovely Barn outbuilding which has been extended as a barn conversion. Great space, good size double bedrooms with ensuites, with a smaller bedroom which has 2 small metal singles in them. A seperate family bathroom. The kitchen diner, family room was really comfortable and spacious. The outside area is large with plenty of upright seating area. The only difficulty we had was it was all stoned, no grass, so walking was difficult for those with mobility issues. Close to the main highway, so quite a bit of traffic noise in the distance. Overall a lovely venue and location and would recommend to others.

Really enjoyed our stayed at The Barn. Modern and high standards throughout the accommodation. Only slight comment would be the mattresses that were too soft and no Sky TV . Would recommend though and consider staying in future.
