Overview

Positioned just off the seafront and within throwing distance of the beach, this contemporary duplex apartment, awash with original artwork and gorgeous furnishings, invites guests to settle into holiday mode from the moment they set foot inside. Three lovely bedrooms and a fabulous open plan living / cooking / dining area mean there's plenty of room for six, so if you're looking for a special place on the Cornish coast where all the family can get together, it doesn't get much better!

There’s no doubt that Beach Vista’s location is its piece de resistance however, and with the harbour being just 200 metres away, and the beaches of Porthmeor and Porthgwidden closer still, this is the perfect place from which to enjoy all that St Ives is famous for. The apartment's furnished front terrace peers out between the cottages right over the bay, and it’s from here that you, cup of coffee or glass of ice-cold fizz in hand, can take in the ever-changing colours of the sky and sea. Upstairs through the picture windows in the master suite, the views are just as spectacular, so if you fancy whiling the hours away with a good book, this is the best spot for it.

A beautiful old pilchard port with its historic fishing quarter and cobbled streets still intact, St Ives has long been a favourite for those in search of a slice of authentic coastal Cornwall, and with some of the county’s best surfing beaches peppering the bay like Gwithian and Porthminster, it’s no wonder water sport and beach lovers flock to this far-west corner of England’s coastline. Of course, the town is also a haven for those looking for artistic inspiration, so unsurprisingly there are numerous independent galleries lining its narrow streets, not least of which being the renowned Tate St Ives overlooking Porthmeor beach. Barbara Hepworth’s sculpture garden is also a must-visit destination when staying here, as are the town’s numerous restaurants, boutiques and beachside cafes.

*Please note that access to the apartment is via a set of steep metal steps so would be unsuitable for those with limited mobility

Welcome to St Ives

There’s something special about holidays in St Ives and we just can’t quite put our fingers on it. It could be the beautiful light that’s attracted artists to the resort for generations, the cobbled streets and coastal views…or that feeling of being a world away from the hustle and bustle. Whatever it is, St Ives has a charm that’s unlike any other, and we’d recommend it at any time of year.

Beach Vista
2.8/5

This property has so much potential and is located in a beautiful corner of St Ives overlooking the magnificent harbour. On the listing it does not state that the property is situated above a lively pub which music plays until midnight on the majority of nights, this did not create a relaxing environment for our holiday. The walk up to the property was absolutely covered in rubbish and bird droppings which leaves a lot to be desired when walking up to the property. The steps up are covered in algae, I would not recommend this for anyone who is uneasy on their feet. From the pictures the balcony/decking looks clean, fresh and well kept. This is far from reality with the decking clearly not being cleaned before our arrival, covered in faeces on the furniture and surrounding flooring. I completely understand the seagull infestation in St Ives but this was clearly not cleaned and the pictures from the booking do not match what is on the balcony, along with completely different flooring (pictures need updating). Walking into the actual property it had a stale smell and I knew immediately this had not been cleaned, there was food reminiscence on the floor and counter tops in the kitchen/living area, kids toys pushed under the sofas, kitchen facilities dusty, which was no acceptable. On top of this we could not find the tv remotes, which were in fact shoved into the sofa and on inspection after moving the cushions to find the remote the sofas had not been cleaned with food and sand within, disgusting! All of the windows and blinds had not been cleaned and were covered in thick layers of dust throughout, this property is not kept clean and standards are not maintained throughout. In the main bedroom we also found used and dried up contact lenses on the bedsides which again shows the lack of attention to detail when cleaning. This property massively needs its photos updating as it does not match the fresh and clean look on the photos when booking. All issues were sent across to the host on our first night and they sent a cleaning team in the following day to rectify most of the issues. As this property is branded a “luxury” stay, I would definitely say this is not value for money and will not be returning, I also would not recommend this place for anyone else due to the reasons above.

Fabulous location
4.5/5

We loved our stay at Beach Vista. It’s not the prettiest of entrances and lugging cases up the flight of stairs at 9:30pm at night wasn’t great, but once inside the apartment it was worth the amble. The property is in an amazing location and the room upstairs had amazing views of the harbour and beyond. Views in the other rooms were less special but the standard of cleanliness and furnishing was high throughout. For us, the lack of blinds in the top bedroom wasn’t ideal. If the seagulls don’t walk you the sun definitely will. At least the views compensated somewhat for the dawn wake up calls! Not a complaint, more a hint to others to bring sleep masks. The only downside to this beautiful property is the constant smell of pasties from the shop below and the noise in the back bedroom from the restaurant fan/aircon(?) below - altho this did stop by 11pm. And to be honest, the positives of this property far outweighed any minor niggles. There is everything you need at the property to make for a very comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend it to others - the stairs might not be suitable for all.

Hi Amanda, thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are so pleased to hear you had a lovely stay, the views of the harbour certainly are amazing. Thank you too for the feedback regarding the blinds in the top bedroom which we have passed on to the owners. We are delighted to hear you would recommend Beach Vista to others and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to one of our properties again one day. Best wishes, The Luxury Coastal Team
