This lovely seaside cottage has been given a new lease on life by its owners. Original character features and boutique styling sit side by side to offer a tastefully designed luxury holiday home in one of Devon’s prettiest coastal villages.

Tucked away down a narrow street just 30 yards from Appledore’s postcard-worthy quay, 1 Quayside offers three floors of sumptuous space, with beautifully decorated bedrooms occupying the top two floors; and the living area, kitchen and dining room laid out on the lower. Cosy and welcoming, this home features an elegant colour palette of charcoals, greys and naturals, with painted wood panelling and whitewashed exposed stone creating an alluring combination of new and old. The ground floor space is divided between a fabulous, amply equipped kitchen and an adjoining dining room that has doors leading out to a suntrap courtyard garden, as well as an inviting living room with glamorous furnishings and fashionable seating.

Upstairs in the converted attic, the master bedroom tempts long, lazy lie-ins beneath chunky exposed timbers and modern mood lighting with crisp high-quality linens, wool throws and soft carpeting adding warmth and texture to the room.On the middle floor are two additional bedrooms, the larger of which boasts a marvellous fireplace as well as a Provençal inspired king size bed with rattan headboard and footer, and the newly fitted bathroom sports a rolltop bath and a large walk-in shower.

Appledore is a dream family holiday destination instantly recognizable from its rows of pastel coloured houses on narrow streets, as well as its attractive quay that has wide views over the Torridge estuary and over to Instow. Steeped in a rich seafaring history, the village is famous for its locally caught seafood and Maritime museum, while also celebrating its creative culture through regular art festivals that showcase the workmanship of its resident craftsmen and women. Just a short drive away lies the beautiful Blue-Flag beach at Westward Ho! – one of North Devon’s best-known spots for water-sports lovers and beach-goers. A combination of vast golden sands and rockpools makes it especially attractive for families who can enjoy swimming, sunbathing and beach exploration, with flat areas that are perfect for picnics and a number of beachside café’s and restaurants for those essential seaside treats of ice cream cones and ‘fish and chips’.

Number of steps: 1 external step to the rear of the property and 2 flights of internal stairs. Please note that due to the character of the property, the internal stairs might not be suitable for guests with limited mobility as they are fairly steep.

Lovely quality cottage in great location. Great for two or four but a bit tight for 6 people. Well equipped and well designed kitchen. Comfy bed.

The cottage would not been our perferd place to stay at, we had a telephone call on the Saturday before we where due to go away saying the accommodation we had booked had to have urgent repairs and we could not stay at this property, we where offered two alternative accommodations and we chose 1 Quayside. it was okay but would not choose again.

Property was clean, very well decorated with high end furniture and appliances. Its in an excellent location. There were so many positives about the property I would have loved to give it a 10/10 but unfortunately a few negatives that made it more a 7/10. Negatives were there was a dog that lives in one of the opposite properties, and we are guessing the owner goes to work and leaves it on it own, as it barked, wined and howled a lot during the day times. When you open the door to go up the stairs to the top bed room there is a strong smell of cigarettes, we think it must be coming through the wall from the adjoining property, once in the bedroom you dont really smell it. We love our coffee and have even taken our coffee machine on holiday with us before. We didnt this time as it advertised there was one there. Unfortunately its one of the nesspreso new style ones, you can only buy the pods first this from Nesspreso or Amazon, meaning once we had used the 4 pods that were there, we had to buy take away coffee every day to get a strong one. Seems strange to have a coffee machine the people cant use, manybe need to be stated to people can buy the pods in advance if they wish.

The house was very spacious, especially just for us two. We loved the dining area, the little courtyard for sitting out and reading. The front sitting room is cosy too. The kitchen was very well equipped. Bed and bathroom good too. We loved being able to walk onto the main street so easily and made good use of the local shops and pubs (The Champ has very good music nights and very friendly staff). A lovely house and great quiet location even though just off the street.

We have been visiting Appledore for many years but this was the first time we have stayed at 1 quayside and it did not dissapoint. The cottage is perfectly decorated and styled to make you feel at home instantly. The spacious rooms meant there was plenty of room for us and our new baby. Its perfect location means we had access to everything Appledore has to offer at our fingertips. We were also very lucky to get free parking on the Quay right outside the cottage for the week.

We took October half term at Quayside as our stop and reset week, we work in retail and need some time before the Christmas madness started. Perfect location. The cottage had plenty of space for us and our 2 children. It is decorated and styled really nicely, making it comfortable and relaxing to spend time in. Well equipped and did exactly what we needed it to do. We even sat out in the courtyard one evening with the heaters on.
