A former ship's captain residence that sits directly on Bamaluz Beach, this stunning two-bedroom property within a five-story house is in one of the most sought-after locations in St Ives.

Light-filled, laid back and utterly gorgeous, the cottage’s interiors have superb sea views on show from every angle. A mix of decorative porcelain tiles and oak floorboards gives an authentic beach house feel, while carefully chosen soft furnishings, wall art and occasional pieces add to its comfort and character. The living area’s seating is positioned to make the most of the outlook. Two sets of French doors in front of a long Juliet balcony are perfectly designed to be opened on summer days, or to offer the perfect vantage for watching winter storms roll in from the Atlantic.

Open to the sitting room, a chic kitchen has all guests need for effortless entertaining, with a dining area alongside for pre-beach breakfasts or suppers after a day on the coast. The cottage has two beautiful bedrooms, including a lovely lower-ground-floor master bedroom with exposed beams and a fabulous window seat. Off the landing on this floor is the secret doorway leading outside to the spiral wrought-iron staircase that descends to the beach, where turquoise water tempts sea swims and soft sand invites sunbathing and relaxation.

For coastal escapes with excellent beaches, food and shopping, St Ives is a dream, and this holiday home rests mere metres from it all. Bamaluz Beach is quieter than the town’s bigger beaches and allows dogs all year round. The Harbour is literally a stone’s throw from the front door, while Fore Street’s restaurants, delis, bakeries and galleries are no more than a five-minute walk. Neighbouring Porthgwidden Beach is three minutes on foot, and Porthmeor Beach and Café, along with the Tate St Ives, is around six minutes.

Mermaids is a five-story home which can be booked as two individual holiday cottages, Mermaids accommodates parties of up to 10. Mermaids 2 is the lower half of the house and Mermaids 3 the upper portion. Both are kept completely private from teach other, when booked individually.

Good Housekeeping Bond or Accidental Damage Waiver: We ask our guests for a £250 Good Housekeeping Bond, pre-authorised against your credit card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved and then released afterward if there is no damage. We will contact you nearer the time of your arrival to arrange this. 
Alternatively, a one-off, non-refundable Accidental Damage Waiver of £30 can be added to your booking to replace the Good Housekeeping Bond and can be added as an extra when processing your booking.
Dogs: 1 dog allowed. £40 per dog, per week, in line with our house rules we do ask that dogs are not left alone in the property, do not use the furniture or go in the upstairs/bedroom areas
Number of steps: 2 steps to front door and 1 internal flight of stairs. Please note that the steps down to the beach are steep and may get slippery in the wet. The final section does not have a handrail

Linen & Towels: Bed linen is provided for your stay, however, if you require use of the travel cot you will need to bring your own cot linen. Each guest will be supplied with one hand towel and one bath towel for their stay. (If your holiday is longer than 10 days, please contact the Luxury Coastal team to discuss a mid-stay linen change)
Travel cot and highchair: Available upon request, please do let us know if you require these for your stay
Wi-Fi: This property provides free Wi-Fi for our guests. There may be occasional variations in speed and performance due to factors outside of our control. If you're planning to work during your stay, we suggest bringing a Wi-Fi dongle as a backup

This property has level access from the street and is set over 2 floors with the living, kitchen, dining area, a bedroom and a family bathroom on the ground floor, and the en-suite master bedroom on the lower ground
Access to the beach is via a steep spiral staircase from the lower ground floor to the rocks. Children and dogs will need to be supervised

Open plan with the kitchen and dining area, the living room has superb sea views through two sets of French doors which open onto a long Juliet balcony. Furnished with two sofas, an armchair, footstool, side tables and a sideboard, the room also has a Smart TV with Freeview and a Bluetooth speaker

Open to the living and dining space, the kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and integrated grill, induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, wine cooler and dishwasher. Smaller appliances include a Nespresso pod coffee machine, kettle and toaster, while an iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner are also provided

Positioned alongside the kitchen and sitting room, the dining area seats four guests and takes in wonderful sea views across the bay

Parking
Guests may pull up to offload their luggage outside the property before making their way to a private parking space at St Ives Rugby Club (a 7 minute drive or 30 minute walk from the property)
A bus service runs at peak times from the Rugby Club to town, or you may opt to pre book with a taxi service like A1 Cars who will take you back to the cottage
Please note Mermaids 2 offers one allocated Rugby Club parking space only. Guests may be able to personally arrange additional parking at the Rugby Club, or find parking in one of the nearby local long stay car parks like the Island Car Park which is a minute’s walk from the property. Please note that this car park is very popular so space availability is limited during the busier months
