Overview
Set over two floors, Swan’s Nest offers an attractive master bedroom with shower room on its ground floor, and a terrific open plan living room with kitchen and dining on the first. The upper floor makes the most of its beautiful views over the ley, and a chaise positioned under the window means guests have the perfect spot from which to enjoy them.
Designed with comfort in mind, the cottage is both stylish and well kitted-out. The bedroom is attractively furnished with a king size bed and lots of storage, the bathroom is contemporary with a double walk-in cubicle, and the kitchen has a full range of appliances including a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. There’s a big flat screen TV in the lounge for evening entertainment, and of course plenty of space to relax and unwind in after days spent out exploring the coast.
Torcross is uniquely positioned on the Devonshire coastline, with the village splicing the landscape between its freshwater Ley and its 3-mile shingle beach. There are beautiful walks in the area including the scenic coast path route to Beesands, Hallsands and Start Point. Virtually equidistant from the towns of Dartmouth and Kingsbridge there’s plenty to see and do. Waterborn SUP on the Kingsbridge Estuary offers paddleboarding excursions for all ages and abilities, and the town is awash with antique shops, art galleries, and gift shops. In the opposite direction on the River Dart, the historic naval town of Dartmouth is crammed with first-class restaurants and riverside eateries. Visitors can enjoy day trips around its Royal Naval College as well as perusing its boutiques and independent shops.
Torcross itself is home to the seafront Start Bay Inn, so for a good old fashioned pub lunch (the battered cod and chip is huge) it’s ideal. Slightly further afield but not by much, Stokeley Farm Shop is a great spot for stocking up on locally made gifts and homegrown produce. They also serve a delicious full English and fresh wood-fired pizzas but be sure to get there early as it’s popular!

Security Deposit: We ask our guests for a £75 good housekeeping bond, which is pre-authorised against your card. This is in case there is any damage to the property during your stay. The money is simply reserved (held as a pending transaction) and then released afterwards if there is no damage or additional cleaning. This will be held on the card on file 7 days prior to your arrival.

There’s nothing like a seaside village with plenty to discover. Torcross is home to spectacular scenery, a friendly community and a fascinating history. If you’re dreaming of days spent in flip flops, you’re going to fall in love with the three-mile sandy beach that seems to roll on forever. There are plenty of tranquil trails for the walkers, and everything just feels calm and spacious all year round.

Beautifully located property with spectacular views of slapton ley and its wildlife, you can also see the sea from one window (just about). The property is well presented and kitchen is well equipped. Although the beach is very close there is no private outdoor space, we also found the stairs within the property were quite steep.

Swans Nest was fantastic. The location could not be better with delightful views over the Ley. The layout of the property has been carefully considered to take advantage of this with all the open plan living accommodation upstairs, being flooded with light, through two very large picture windows but because you are upstairs it is also private. The bedroom and bathroom are both very comfortable. The bathroom is a good size with a lovely large walk in shower which has both an overhead rain-head and adjustable wall mounted shower. The entire space is immaculately clean and has everything you could possibly need. Torcross never feels crowded but the best time is in the evenings when day trippers leave and you can just enjoy looking out over the Ley watching the wildlife, fantastic entertainment.

Swans Nest was immaculate. Everything went so smoothly from booking right through to leaving the property. The owner is friendly, very kind and concerned that all is well with your stay. Swans nest is contemporary in design & very well equipped. We could cook full meals when we wanted to easily. As for the views .. they are glorious! We were there mid January so we had short days but for parts of the days we were indoors was wonderful to look out at the lake. Torcross is lovely too. We would certainly come back.
