A nice place to stay
4.2/5

We enjoyed our stay. It's a lovely modern property and it's easy to explore the area around and about. The beds were really comfortable and the property was spotlessly clean.

Short review, Recommended.
3.8/5

New build terrance house in Hayle decorated in a stylish on trend minimal way, almost across the street from Asda, close to the A30, St. Ives, Penzance etc. 15-20 minutes or so walk to the beach through the failed North Quay development. Bus stop a few minutes walk, £4 return (June24) to St. Ives without the stress of driving-parking etc. Train station also walkable. The house was just like the photo's, except the cream couch is starting to look a bit dirty, maybe not the best colour for a holiday rental. Two large bedrooms with minimal stylish furniture, bed was comfortable, bathroom is on the smaller size leaving space between the bath and toilet for a small sink (not the end of the world if you are a larger build you might find it cramped) The builders didn't put any down lights above the kitchen worktop so it's a bit dark (not a big deal, just a little thing) The house has large windows at the front and back, (instructions included on how to open them), the front getting morning sunshine and the back afternoon sunshine, being a well insulated new build, this does heat the house. During my stay I had nice warm weather and after a day at the beach the house was pretty hot on my return even leaving all the blinds closed and upstairs windows open, I imagine if there is ever hot weather it will be hard to sleep without a fan in the bedrooms. Things I would have liked. instructions on how to open the back door (it's a bit tricky) (to open turn the handle anticlockwise at the same time as the key clockwise) - to lock do the reverse. I had to message to figure it out, felt really stupid but the handle felt as if it could snap quite easily. A vacuum cleaner, brushes are provided, a vacuum would have helped me leave the place a bit cleaner. Curtains-blinds on the rear window, door and front door. The house is quite private at the back but there is a public footpath on a hill behind the property and you can see into the house from there. removal of a big high chair (when not needed), takes up space and reminded me of my work, I didn't want that I was on holiday. Although the house itself is very nice, I thought maybe it was priced a little high for Hayle. I normally stay in Newquay which is more of a tourist town and spend less on similar properties. Hayle is a good location for getting around, the town itself is a little rough around the edges. Litter all over near Asda, litter all through the dunes to get to the beach. I actually prefer places that are a bit rough around the edges, St Ives is like a Disney version on Cornwall, after about 10 minutes in St Ives I'm ready to leave. Just be aware in you want the "monied" - "pretty" - "pristine" Carbis bay - St. Ives feel you won't get it in Hayle. Would I stay in this house again, definitely if I could afford it. Would I recommend the location, yes unless you want that "pretty pristine St. Ives Cornish town look" then you might be disappointed by Hayle. That's not to say Hayle is rough or dangerous, I didn't get that vibe it's just not a pretty looked after tourist town like it's neighbours.

John, 06 Jul 2024

Hi John, Thanks very much for taking the time to leave your thoughtful comments and we’re glad you enjoyed your stay in Hayle and the “stylish” look of Towans Retreat. It’s great that you found the bed comfortable and enjoyed the convenient location of the house and its closeness to transport links. We’re sorry the high chair was left out as it should only be out for those guests with little ones so we will ensure this is put away in future. All the windows have floor to ceiling blinds except the kitchen windows so that guests can enjoy the views to the countryside beyond. As you say, Towans Retreat is a new house which is very well insulated but also well ventilated so it remains breezy in the summer especially when the doors to the rear garden are open. Thanks again for your comments and we hope you will stay with us again. Best wishes, The Luxury Coastal team

Nice small house for a couple or a small family
4.3/5

The Location is really fantastic. Just two walking minutes to a very big supermarket - open daily. The house is really new but a few things really bothered us. Not a single wardrobe or cabinet available. The small garden has been completely filled up with small stones - plants and weed everywhere - only 2 sqm pavement…so it was absolutely impossible to sit outside for our family. Beds were quite comfortable and the kitchen modern. Bring your own hairdryer as no one is available. Cleanliness was good at first sight, but unfortunately we took a look below the wooden carpet and the couch by mistake.

Tobias, 06 Jun 2024

Hi Tobias, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are so glad to hear you enjoyed the fantastic location being within two minutes walk of a supermarket which is super convenient. Thank you for the feedback, this is always welcomed and taken into account. As there is a chest of drawers and long hanging rail in each room we did not feel we needed to add a wardrobe or cabinet. Thank you for mentioning the garden, the weeds have been dealt with and two additional chairs have been purchased so there is more seating available for people to enjoy the garden. It is good to know that you found the beds to be comfortable and you liked the modern kitchen, we do apologise regarding the hairdryer unfortunately the one in the property has gone walk abouts! Thank you also for the feedback regarding the cleanliness, this has been passed over to the relevant team. Best wishes, The Luxury Coastal Team

Great location, lovely property, let down by the cleaning between stays
3.5/5

Fantastic new build property in a great location in Hayle. Very well appointed and lovely furnishings, I stayed myself and my dog and we both had a great stay. Only downside is the cleaning between stays let the property down and I spent the first two hours 'finishing' off the cleaning. Mostly fine, but as a luxury property you would expect a little more care to be taken around the kitchen, bathrooms and the sofas. Once this was done however, the stay was excellent and I'd recommend to others.

Memorable Family Holiday
5/5

If you want an ideal location from which to discover all the treasures of south-west Cornwall with your family this is the place for you. Spotlessly clean and kitted out with all you will need, it has front door parking within walking distance or a short drive from beaches, coves, and excellent cafes. The coastal train to St Ives is an exciting way to visit several unique spots along the way, but Hayle is also a great starting point to explore Three Mile Beach and view the famously dramatic sight of Godrevy Lighthouse.

Our week in Hayle.
4.5/5

Perfect getaway with our darling toy poodle. Really enjoyed our stay walking Hayle beach with the dog and spending time in St Ives and Mousehole , both a short ride away by bus or train. The accommodation is spacious and well equipped so great for 4 people. Only downside is noise from the main through the night. Also found the bed to be not so comfy - the mattress is too firm for both my wife and I. So sadly we didn’t sleep very well. Otherwise highly recommend.

Noel, 25 Sep 2023

Hi Noel, thank you for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed the property although unfortunate that the mattresses did not suit you. We hope to welcome you back through Luxury Coastal doors again one day. Best wishes, the Luxury Coastal team.

Lovely and comfortable house
4.5/5

We spend a lovely 2 weeks holiday at Towans Retreat. The house is well equipped, seemed brand new and clean, and offers enough space and mod cons to keep us and our 2 adult children happy even on a rainy day. Since we like to cook, we were happy to find the kitchen to offer everything we needed. The generous welcome package with Cornish products such as tea, coffee, cookies... was much appreciated. The location was perfect to shops and the Asda and some restaurants as well as the Foundry Square and Chapel to browse or to stroll to the beach along the estuary of an evening. We found the private parking in front of the house especially convenient since we used the car for day trips, walking excursions all over Cornwall and to get to our favourite beach - Godrevy. We did not mind that the railroad tracks (on the viaduct) are pretty close to the lawned back garden/house, especially since the windows are tripple glazed. However, we slept with the windows open and it was no problem at all. In a nutshell, we did enjoy Towans Retreat as a convenient home from home. Greetings from Germany.
